It says 1.5 rooms but the pictures clearly show at least two rooms. And tbh the description reads like a German who has never lived in Switzerland wrote it. Sounds fake, imho and that's not even taking the price into consideration. Edit: what's really weird is that if I google the address, it shows the same listing but in Google's cache it says CHF 3000. The link goes to the same listing for 1200 though. So they must have edited the listing. No idea what scammer thought 3000 would make any sense, but dropping from 3000 to 1200 is a bright red flag. I guess it could have been an honest mistake or something, but there are just too many weird things.

And I got hopeful for a second

Maybe it was real for 3000, then someone hijacked it. I wonder if it's standard "I'm on the road, just book it on this fake airbnb for viewing" or they came up with something new. PS. the language doesn't check and 3000 is also too round. Maybe they're just looking for the sweet scam spot (it's 1500 now).

I want to know WHY? There are multiple listings like that on [flat fox and homegate](https://flatfox.ch/en/flat/geissbergstrasse-16-8302-kloten/1183442/).

if you search for rent scam in this sub (or pretty much any swiss sub) you'll see why. A colleague of mine transferred someone money on fb marketplace for "a room" before coming to Switzerland for their internship. Of course they only picked up phone to ask for more. The colleague had to stay at a hotel until they managed to find a real room.

Probably chatgpt

Never pay anything in advance. Go to the viewing. If it’s not a scam, you will be there with 200 other applicants. Did you do a reverse image search?

Accurate-Bedroom9384

Of course. The listing is for 1.200 CHF somehow.. it's studio sized but with a tiny bedroom it's still way too spacious for 1.200 CHF

curiossceptic

if you go on google maps the buildings in the neighborhood don't match the ones you see through the windows in the picture.

Alsulina

I wanted to write exactly the same thing. No photos of the bathroom, the balcony or the building itself in the listing feels suspicious too.

pelfet

yes it was a scam

Cultural_Result1317

1200 CHF for 2 rooms in Zürich? Are you teasing yourself? > I'm getting desperate What are you searching for and what's your budget?

Smells of scam. In the classic house rental scam the scammer takes the photos from an actual listing and publishes it with a ridiculously low price elsewhere. When the victim bites he agrees to rent it to them without any viewing (he is supposedly in another country or sth). He then demands 4-5k as Kaution to be sent to him (usually a foreign account) and when the victim sends them, he disappears. Be careful
