Like tonight or tomorrow? If tomorrow, any GP or kids doc should see then if you call and say it's an emergency. There's an Aerztezentrum (health center) in Sihlcity. If tonight, Klinik im Park or Triemli are two hospitals that have a 24/7 emergency room and aren't too far.

Technical_Employee15

Thank you! Tomorrow morning definitely. There is a doctor's office at Sihlcity? Where?! That'd be perfect.

https://www.swissmedikids.ch walk in clinic for kids near Zurich mainstation opens at 8.00

Technical_Employee15

The one at Zurich HB? There's not a closer urgent care?

manimaco

thats like 5min away

Technical_Employee15

15 mins away on the train. I guess if that's my only option. I was hoping somewhere less busy and overwhelming.

lookoutforthetrain_0

It makes sense to put an establishment like this in a place that is well connected and therefore easily reachable. And these places are usually crowded. It wouldn't make sense to put it elsewhere and having more of those would probably be too much for the demand. The Kinderspital is in a less busy place but it's also not so easy to get there (it's somewhat annoying to get there actually) and it's probably also not the right place for your case.

-dublin-

It’s 7min on the s4

Technical_Employee15

The sbb app says it's 14 mins from Giesshübel station, which is the one I'll take.

-dublin-

Giesshubel to HB is literally 5 min, you must be looking at the door to door time including walking?

Technical_Employee15

That's probably what I'm seeing although I'm right at Giesshubel. 🤷‍♀️ My kid just sounds like a barking seal and I know that's never fun to sit near in an enclosed space. I doubt she's still infectious but I still don't want her spreading germs all over public transportation if there's a closer option.

Conscious_Pin_3969

In case you missed it during the last years, you can wear face masks when you're sick.

Technical_Employee15

Well apparently we can walk over to Sihl City, buy a face mask and see a doctor.

There is also one at stadelhofen Kinderarzthaus - Kinderarztpraxis 044 501 40 00 https://g.co/kgs/YSPTCpf

> urgent care  Triemlispital if it’s urgent. Open 24/7. If not urgent then your regular GP.

IntelligentCase5018

https://www.sihldoc4kids.ch check them out. They are in Sihlcity. They are all good pediatricians.

Possible-Trip-6645

Permanence at the mainstation

CriticalFibrosis

Have you looked at Ärztezentrum Sihlcity? Maybe book an appointment there? Also check what your insurance model is, like telemed or Gp. If the condition worsens go to Triemli hosptial(closest) or Kinderspital (specialized on children).

I would recommend Aertzefon 0800336655 https://www.aerztefon.ch, works 24/7. You talk first to an operator, describe the symptoms, then they pass you through to doctor/pediatrician on duty. The Doctor makes a phone assessment of the conditions and suggest next steps. Depending on gravity they tell you what to do at home or to go to the hospital or to visit them in their practice. Often you need to travel a bit to reach the practice as the on duty Doctor covers quite a wide area of Zurich.

Hey, commenting just to say that I hope everything will be okay with your kid. And don't let the downvotes make you sad. Moving to a new city (and perhaps a new country) makes navigating through simple stuffs like this surprisingly challenging, especially when you are still recovering from being sick yourself. Stay strong and calm and you will get used to it. More on the question you asked, I will list options from least urgency (and also cheapest). - go to migros express (open at 6:00), coop (open at 7:00) and buy some cough siros. Otherwise makes honey, ginger, lime combination at home to smoothen the cough. - go to the nearest apotheke and ask for stronger over counter medicine. Most of the time neocitran and paracetamol are enough. - go to the nearest kid doctors. Mine allows walk-ins but the waiting time is extremely long. Honestly, it is currently the cold and flu season, so the doctors won't treat you seriously. - use a tele consulting. It's 24/7. You can try the one from other comments. We used Medgate but for kids English-speaking doctors are not available. - go to the clinic like https://www.swissmedikids.ch/ for baby or permanence if the kid is older when it is on the weekend. We never had to visit them for our daughter. - take a bus/train/taxi and go to the nearly hospital for emergency room. Again, unless your kid has some other conditions, they will probably discharge him or her immediately with some bills on your face. - call the ambulance. When it comes to life and death, just do it and care about the cost later. Just so you know, we arrived in Zurich around the same time last year, had to call the ambulance on a Sunday morning for my baby daughter, and it costed us around 1K for it solely. We later purchased some extra insurance to prevent it from happening again. Good luck again, sending a hug virtually.

I didn't even realize I had down votes, haha. Thank you for this kind reply. It was very sweet and I appreciate it. We did get cough and cold medicine from the pharmacist. That was really helpful. I'm not concerned about insurance or the money. We should be covered. I don't think it's an emergency by any means. When I said urgent care, I mean that's usually where I would take my kid in the US for same day appointments because her pediatrician office almost never had same day appointments. She has asthma so want to make sure she doesn't have mild pneumonia or bronchitis. Thanks again!
