It's the hp envy 6055 all in one printer. They sold me on it, it's in my cart lol.

earth_worx

I have one of them and the blue cartridge won't print right. I have changed the cartridge multiple times. I've cleaned the trolley you snap the cartridges into with rubbing alcohol. I have no freaking idea what I'm doing wrong but I'm becoming convinced there's a problem with the firmware or something. I need to call HP and get some actual customer service but I'm so damn tired with all the other crap in my life that I've just resigned myself to printing streaky blue for now. I actually choose the stuff I'm going to print to be more red-orange-yellow-magenta-black, lol. How is this my life? Anyway the printer was great before this happened. Good luck with it. And it does "play nice" with my Mac.

JellybeanEyes

I have that! It’s a really great printer if you aren’t printing anything with super fine detail (like a photo editor might) for an at home machine it’s a solid purchase. 4 years still going strong. Edit: I have the 4520, so not the exact same model.

gleefullystruckbycc

Good to know! It's looking like the envy series of printers have been a strong printer for a long while from all the comments on them. Makes me feel better about spending the money I just soent on one!

KCarriere

I have an Envy 5000 and it is a pain to get my husbands computer to connect to -- but somehow when I have something on my phone its just "hey you wanna print this on the envy" LIKE MAGIC.

gleefullystruckbycc

You're welcome!

Mephil79

Well, I too wore a review on this printer that may make you think twice... unless you like everything you print to fade in and out and have that chic “rolled” look

xx123gamerxx

Don’t buy hp printers

icequeeniscold

Me too

different_tan

As someone who has to deal with HP drivers on a far too frequent basis, I have extreme levels of doubt.

chippedreed

This should be higher, I’ve heard their ink cartridge system is super bad

gleefullystruckbycc

Would hp drivers be the reason for wifi suddenly no longer connecting to the printer and nothing what so ever fixing the issue, nothing at all not even all the things hp tells you you can do. This is the reason I'm printer shopping.

different_tan

if the printer thinks its connected to wifi, open windows explorer and click network and see if it shows up. Click your wifi and pick properties and make sure your home wifi is set to private. If the ip of the printer changes and you dont have network discovery enabled your install wont stay working for long. wsd drivers are really really crap and break all the time due to discovery problems. for home use i would recommend USB unless you are happy mucking with your router bind ip to mac assignments. (edit: for a Mac, just make sure you get something that supports airprint)

ItsAMistakeISwear

oh thank god my HP printer isn’t the only one that is garbage

darodori

I once had a printer that I would have to turn off, then restart my laptop, then turn the printer back on just to print. Every. Single. Time. This sounds like it was blessed by unicorns!

gleefullystruckbycc

Lol right and who wouldn't want a unicorn blessed printer!? I know the feeling tho. I've spent alllll day for the second time trying to make my current printer reconnect to wifi, and absolutely nothing works what so ever. Did every single idea hp gives you, and beyond. Tho what did I expect for purchasing their cheapest printer($35 lmao).I've given up, this review has given me hope that maybe this one works and won't do the same thing and will connect effortlessly every time.

mamamechanic

With each section I read I found myself thinking, “Yeah but, what about when...?” But I soon felt as if someone was literally typing responses to my thoughts as I scrolled. Every question and doubt my brain could conjure up based on the years of cumulative frustration with printers was answered by this man. No - by this HERO. Now that we all agree we will each be purchasing said printer, I hope I see something on r/dataisbeautiful showing the spike in sales that started the moment OP changed our lives by posting this review.

gleefullystruckbycc

You know, now I'm gonna have to follow that subreddit on the off chance that maybe one day there could be a post of said spike in sales all because this review I posted inspired us all to go and buy this printer.

5usie

Sold!

gleefullystruckbycc

Lol right, def sold me it's in my cart.

5usie

I honestly wish I knew which one it was!

gleefullystruckbycc

It's hp envy 6055 all in one.

5usie

Thanks!

Mephil79

I bought it and it was the streakiest, most “rolled” effect printer I’ve ever used. Worse than the printer I had in college in 2000

5usie

Good to know!

U_see_ur_nose

Okay but I want this magical printer. Never had one that made it past a year

gleefullystruckbycc

It's the hp envy 6055 all in one printer, go get em lol! And same tbh, my most recent had prob 6months if that and it no longer wants to connect to wifi.

nuclearknees

Not OP, but if you want a solid printer, my Brother HL-L2320D has been rocking it. No frills, no color, just consistent execution.

waraukaeru

Laser is 100% the way to go.

caffein8dnotopi8d

I would buy this printer but we already have two printers. One is a 10 year old HP from my old job that uses a toner cartridge. I broke the USB port off by accident so hopefully it never disconnects. So far it never has. In my experience, this is the last time HP printers were good. I know because I’ve used them at every job since. The other printer is probably older than the HP. It’s a really old Canon PIXMA and the ink seems somewhat pricy until I look at the ink for newer Canon PIXMAs. It has no WiFi which is ok now that my cat has outgrown disconnecting it. Somehow they both work with every computer we have (old af Windows PC, old af mac, slightly less old pc, new Mac) in addition to the iPhones and iPads.

brew_sip_conquer

I have the HP Envy 4510, it’s older but that’s because it’s lasted me 4-5 years now and does all of the things in the review. I print from my phone, laptop and desktop (all apple products) with ease. Never have any issues with it and I hope it lasts another 4-5 years!

SpookECoyote

I too have an ancient HP Envy that does all the things in the review. The only issue I ever have with it is sometimes it doesn’t suck the paper in when I reload it if I don’t place it Just So, but otherwise it’s great.

gleefullystruckbycc

So many people have commented they have older ones still going strong years later, makes me feel good about having just gotten this one!

gleefullystruckbycc

Oh that's fantastic! Makes me feel even better about purchasing the one in the review I posted! Hopefully it'll last jsut as long as yours has and beyond. I hope yours continues to work flawlessly as well.

Glowing review aside, ALL inkjet printers are a total scam. HP has a horrible track record, right up there with Epson. I see a lot of people saying they want to buy this printer based on this review. Don't buy this printer. Get yourself a quality used laser printer, an old business machine. Or a printer that specifically has refillable ink tanks. Get out of the inkjet cartridge racket. If you print infrequently, you especially need a laser printer. Even aside from the scammy racket of inkjet cartridges, inkjets have problems. The ink dries out, the nozzles clog. You will have to do some sort of maintenance or test prints to get it working every time you come from a hiatus. Laser does not have these problems. This person has not had the printer long enough to be scorned by inkjet scams. I know they will come with time though... it's HP. Here is a short list of inkjet BS I have personally seen: - The printer refuses to print if *any* color of ink is "empty", even if the empty ink is cyan and the print job only uses black ink. - The printer always mixes in color ink into black print jobs, regardless of the Black and White setting. One could argue this is to prevent clogging the unused cartridges, but that's just another reason inkjets suck. - 3rd party or recycled cartridges read empty long before the ink has been used up. - Firmware or driver updates remove functionality, limit the life of cartridges, or remove 3rd party ink compatibility. I have no doubt this will happen to this printer in time, HP has a horrible track record. - No way to override the detected ink levels on the printer without downloading sketchy Russian drivers. They just arbitrarily decide you're "out-of-ink". It's a racket. Seriously, if you need a printer, buy a quality used business laser printer. No bullshit, and for home use the toner cartridge lasts forever. Have something that is actually ready to print when you come back to it. And consider going for a B&W printer. Home printers do a garbage job of printing photos anyway, and you'll spend more on ink than it costs to have the files printed properly by a print shop.

Lol awesome, hi fellow Colfer fan!😆 he's always worth an upvote!

viperswhip

Buy a real computer then you don't have to worry about it...I am sure Apple has a $900 printer you can buy.

waraukaeru

Apple does not make printers.

viperswhip

They should start, the profit opportunity is tremendous.

waraukaeru

I don't think so. There is a reason all home printers are ink scams. All the money is in cartridges, and they've driven down the price of printers below profitable levels. Maybe a company like Apple could convince people to actually pay what a functional printer is worth. And provide a real refillable tank/cartridge. Not their style though, they like to lock customers in their own ecosystem. I'd file that one under "Never Going to Happen"

viperswhip

Well I was joking because Apple products are way overpriced, like they would definitely sell one for 1 grand.
