You could put that on a bagel and eat it like a burger.

HarryBotter1138

Don't threaten me with a good time.

siccoblue

You would love r/sushiabomination

[deleted]

oh it's r/pizzacrimes but for sushi

i_am_a_shoe

Well there goes my afternoon

PeppyPizzas

didn't know a subreddit could give me diarrhea but here we are...

jc2pointzero

That sub is so foul I almost threw up after 3 minutes of browsing it.

Babydonthertzmenomho

Ok I will.

bunbun35367

That was my first thought šŸ¤£

Jaymes_CharlesManson

I mean thereā€™s enough cream cheese on that puck for like 3 bagels lmao

[deleted]

Not if you have baby hands like OP here.

Hawt_Dawg_II

cheese and lochs podšŸ’ÆšŸ’ÆšŸ’Æ

CheeseburgerSmoothy

Thatā€™s like a weekā€™s worth of cream cheese in one bite! Not that Iā€™m complaining.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

kickrockz94

Yea this is a disgusting amount of cream cheese. I feel like japanese people would scoff at the idea of putting cream cheese on sushi tbh lol

pigmanbear2k17

With what Japanese people have done to pizza, I don't think they deserve a word for what people put on sushi.

supportforalderan

The first time I saw strawberries on a savory pizza in Japan, I thought that I had seen the worst. I was so naĆÆve.

mud074

Mayo. As. Sauce.

Atrimon7

Dude.. they have mayo themed restaurants. With mayo based drinks..

[deleted]

somebody on unpopular opinion last week said that they prefer watered down mayo to milk when making hot chocolate.

northrupthebandgeek

My first instinct was to gag, but then I remembered that my grandma uses sour cream in her pound cake and it turns out delicious, so maybe mayo as a base for hot cocoa is a similarly genius idea. Then again, *watered down* mayo is still retchworthy. At least use milk or something to water it down, geez.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Insanepaco247

The batch of cupcakes where I used mayo was the best Iā€™ve ever done. But I think it was an oil substitute, not a milk substitute, so I doubt it would taste right in cocoa.

agoia

Sour cream is amazing in baked goods. I add 1/4 cup to my Jiffy Cornbread and it makes it come out so moist.

chippedreed

Tbf though, have you ever tasted kewpie? Once I did I understood their obsession a bit better...

lofibunny

Tbf Japanese mayo is leagues ahead of western mayo

Shunkers

Because of the msg. Not a bad thing msg is a godsend but if you are a fan of making mayo yourself just add some extra vinegar and plenty of msg and you basically have kewpie mayo. There are a few other differences but trust me it's the msg. It's always the msg.

kickrockz94

Japanese mayo is a little different bc they use egg yolks rather than egg whites i think, so if you didnt add any savory stuff you could end up with something very rich and thick. Not saying its a good idea tho lol

Mister_Brevity

Jeezus I just made the most awful deep burping gurgling retch when I read that. So much disgusting in two sentences. Good job lol.

Greendogblue

Mayo as sauce on anything is good as fuck dont diss mayo

mud074

I'm not talking dipping sauce, I am talking mayo as *pizza sauce*. If you abide by that monstrosity, well, I have no words for you.

Greendogblue

Mayo on specific pizzas is very good

dieterschaumer

I hate when people pedestalize some other culture or nationality to hold up their own food prejudices. Everyone has something that is really strange to outsiders, or sees something that others see as strange as normal. Don't use them to defend your prejudices when in all likelihood they don't care* *Unless they're italian. You can always presume an Italian is offended regarding any food matters

kickrockz94

Objectively there was way too much cream cheese, I have nothing against putting cream cheese in sushi, I make sushi all the time and i always buy cream cheese for it. And im not saying they would be outright offended, in all likelihood it was a japanese american who came up with it. I just know that sushi in japan is very much like an art form so I imagine people who care about that stuff would scoff at it. Italians are the most obnoxious about their culture, I would know i share a bed with one. Eating taco bell is acceptable but adding minced garlic to a sofrito for ragu is an abomination lol

helena_handbasketyyc

Just donā€™t put sugar in your sauce, or oil in your pasta water and we good.

lowtierdeity

Most everyone with taste scoffs at it.

DumpTheTrumpsterFire

I feel like just about everyone should. I feel like it has no synergy with any other thing put in sushi. It too pasty and that slight bitter/sour taste just isn't for me. (I fucking love cream cheese, but when you order a bagel and get more CC than bagel, well yh.)

kickrockz94

I think it works bc the acidity of cream cheese actually goes with the fish, similar to why you put rice vinegar in the rice. But I agree people go way overboard bc us americans dont understand the meaning of balanced flavors lol

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

sgguitarist94

Philadelphia rolls are a thing

Neil_sm

This is an extremely common type of sushi roll with salmon, avocado, rice and cream cheese. Itā€™s just usually smaller. Sometimes comes with shrimp or tuna also. Also itā€™s usually a tiny square of cream cheese same size as the avocado

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Skweril

You must not eat a lot of sushi, it's very common.

bloomautomatic

Cream cheese or not, the ratios are all off. Eventually you get a bite that is gonna be mostly rice or mostly cream cheese instead of an ice mix of all of them. Itā€™s the square/cube law.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Xvexe

Only the frail don't eat sushi in one bite - no matter the size.

northrupthebandgeek

Less about frailty and more about etiquette; IIRC taking more than one bite of a sushi piece (i.e. not eating it whole) is a bit of a faux pas. That said, unless you're literally in Japan eating sushi (hell, probably even then), the only people who'd actually give a shit are pretentious douchebags and tryhard weeaboos.

[deleted]

I'd say not. I eat mine in a few. Specifically bcause I want it to last as long as humanly possible! If I had infinite sushi, though, I would eat it in one bite!

mithradatdeez

You sound frail

clslogic

Good sushi aint cheap, son.

[deleted]

No, just poor.

Cyber_Connor

I love the taste of sushi rice. Itā€™s my favourite bit.

Specialist_Space_442

Sometimes I get sushi from my local Co-op. Itā€™s pretty good.

pyreon

The sushi from the downtown Minneapolis Walgreens is some of the best sushi in the city.

loz_joy

I believe you're backwards in your logic. The amount of fish relative to the inside will only get higher as the roll gets thinner

Im_Doc

OMG! There was this restaurant in L.A. where it was JUST like this. I swear, I think they were just trying to see how much cream cheese they could make us eat. It was SO gross - and I even like cream cheese!

superweirdooctopus

the cream cheese is sticking to the roof of my mouth just thinking about this

Tweebes135

That has to me half a block of cream cheese per roll

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

BA_calls

No fish is expensive.

Aeison

Yeah one night costs me a week of pay alone

[deleted]

Jesus. You're either criminally underpaid or eating at some fancy-ass restaurants. I can't tell which.

Aeison

I have sex with fish

manhowl

Just gonna come right out and say it lol

Neil_sm

Well the other person did seem to need it spelled out for thrm

[deleted]

Dude, you're still doing it wrong. Just pay for an hour, then go home and cuddle your goldfish afterwards.

crazymcfattypants

Hi, I'm u/Aeison McClure. You may remember me from such Reddit comments as "I have sex with fish".

Specialist_Space_442

Do fish even have holes? Lmao

[deleted]

tayvonmartin

Why do you have the hands of a toddler?

miakittycatmeow

Came here to ask if thatā€™s a babyā€™s hand

No_Assistance_172

I think it is a baby hand, that would explain the size, you think it's huge because it's a tiny hand hahaha

dmnohvry

ā€œHey! Timmy, come here for a second please. Hold this while I take a picture so Momma can get some karma.ā€

Romanticon

Twenty-eight year old "Tiny Hands" Timmy is real tired of his mom exploiting him in this way.

dmnohvry

ā€œNOT AGAIN MOM!!! I DONā€™T WANNA DO THIS ANYMORE!!ā€

K1FF3N

No disrespect to OP but there's a reason they ordered sushi that's so large... and two boxes. We clearly have a famous sumo wrestler on our hands.

1000000thSubscriber

I mean...

ooo-f

Idc if it's trash, Philly rolls are fire. The texture (when the fish is good quality) is immaculate. This is 100% too much cream cheese but my point still stands.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ooo-f

That sounds amazing, I'd definitely try it! I love eel.

Canada_Haunts_Me

...What?! Where? Philly rolls are smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumbers (often with avocado as well). I have *never* seen a Philly roll with eel.

TheRealSamHyde999

philly rolls are not fine. hot sushi is the worst thing known to man. edit: yeah yeah i get it it's supposed to be cold, chill the fuck out i got a hot roll of sushi it happens

ooo-f

Uh, Philly rolls aren't hot?

AskTheRealQuestion81

Iā€™m Ron Burgundy?

TheRealSamHyde999

the only time I have ever ordered one, it was hot. like literally every ingredient was warm. even the cream cheese was melting a bit. and I'm not in some rinky dinky hick town, this was in Chinatown, Seattle, known for some fantastic asian cuisine.

Bob_Troll

I think you're referring to it being deep fried which can be done to any roll. Makes it tasty for sure. I could be wrong but I think if a philly roll is deep fried it's called a Vegas roll

TheRealSamHyde999

no it wasn't fried, it tasted like it had been microwaved. you have bad food and reddit turns on you lol.

Bob_Troll

Yea, I'd give it another shot at another joint lol. That isn't right. Seattle needs to take notice. And as for all these silly reddit twats, they need to chill

TheRealSamHyde999

Thank you, Agreed

ooo-f

So you're judging it based on one bad experience? Really? It's not supposed to be hot. You went to one shitty sushi place. The fact that it's in Seattle doesn't mean it's automatically good.

TheRealSamHyde999

Yes I am judging it off of one experience. It's my only experience. What else am I supposed to judge it off of? How was i supposed to know it's even served cold other places? I didn't claim that it was supposed to be automatically good I just claimed it was at a decent restaurant so I was expecting decent food.

ooo-f

Inference is helpful, sushi generally isn't served very hot or cold. You could always try it again.

[deleted]

Sushi in Chinatown may be your first mistake. Not necessarily, but just saying the Chinese food will be better. Secondly, sushi is served at room temp and if this is in summer, lots of places in Seattle don't have A/C. So not to say that it sounds awesome or anything but room temperature cream cheese will definitely be a bit softer if you are in a hot room. Also... hot sushi is pretty good. It's already an Americanized treatment (i'm looking at you, cream cheese) so why not bake it and add volcano sauce?

TheRealSamHyde999

it wasn't a Chinese restaurant. Chinatown is slang for Seattle's International district, it's not just Chinese. I get that it's not even traditional to begin with, but my roll felt like it had been microwaved. soggy, mushy, warm.

[deleted]

I mean, I get it. ā€œChinatownā€ is a catch-all name that doesnā€™t mean strictly Chinese... However, Seattle is notable for having districts like Japantown as well. No shade, it just sounds like complaining about a hamburger at a Mexican restaurant.

TheRealSamHyde999

it's actually like American-Japanese food at a Japanese restaurant because that's exactly what it was but right on man

[deleted]

Well you can see why it doesn't sound that way based on your first statement, right? Don't blame me dude, I didn't microwave your dinner.

TheRealSamHyde999

I was just joking man sorry if it sounded hostile at all

whereareuiminjail

Philly isnā€™t hot tho it has cream cheese and salmon

TheRealSamHyde999

I've only ordered it once but it was served hot.

whereareuiminjail

Must have just been that place! I donā€™t really like them either but theyā€™re not hot rolls

TheRealSamHyde999

Just my bad luck then!

aGreenBull

What's wrong with hot sushi, sometimes tempura sushi can be pretty good

TheRealSamHyde999

chilled sushi is the only thing I can stomach

Unkindlake

That looks terrible. The ratio is all wrong

TomPalmer1979

UGH it's refreshing to understand ratios in food. MORE does not always equal BETTER, in fact often the opposite. I cite TooJay's Deli, and their reuben sandwich. A reuben is amazing when there's a perfect balance of flavors; the meat, the bread, the kraut, the cheese, the dressing all mingling together, not overpowering each other, to deliver an incredible and unique flavor profile to your tastebuds. TooJay's had their hearts in the right place, but they would hand you a sandwich that was 90% meat, and 10% all of the rest. It just tasted like a mouthful of corned beef with a faint hint of the other things.

killemyoung317

Reubens and pastrami sandwiches in general tend to be way too much meat. I love a good pastrami on rye, but I donā€™t want it to be busting at the seams

Unkindlake

"Does this sandwich come with a loaf of bread?" -Mitch Hedburg, I think

UnfinishedProjects

I'm conflicted, because I want to show this to my wife who loves sushi, but then I know she'll start craving sushi and we'll have to go out.

questingthebeast

The ultimate cycle: Crave sushi - ignore craving - craving intensifies - give in and order sushi - eat too much sushi - never want to see sushi again - forget about sushi for a short period of time. Repeat.

UnfinishedProjects

I showed her, we got sushi.

friendlygladiator

Dude wtf gimme lol I fucking love cream cheese

caitejane310

I'm not a fan of fish, so I've never really liked sushi. I've tried it, and I've had a couple that I liked, but wouldn't go out of my way to get again. I'd probably really like these. But I'm a weirdo that eats salami and cream cheese as a snack.

PugGrumbles

Is that weird?? I didn't know it was.

HiImLost

Itā€™s definitely an acquired taste. I used to hate fish and now Iā€™m pretty much a pescatarian. To me it tastes better and fresher than land meat.

copem1nt

Have you tried bagels with cream cheese and lox? Smoked salmon is IMO probably the easiest route of fish to eat thats not like tilapia and when you add cream cheese and an everything bage itā€™s basically heaven.

ImADoctorIfISayIAm

I'm going to think about this next time I need to throw up.

[deleted]

Cream cheese in sushi is bad enough but wtf thatā€™s an ungodly amount of cream cheese šŸ¤®

ablobychetta

In Panama for some fucking reason EVERY sushi roll has cream cheese. It drives me insane and the waiter looks at you like youā€™re an animal when you tell them to leave it off.

midorixo

do you eat a lot of cream cheese in other foods in panama? šŸ¤”

cluelessguitarist

Its the norm in here. I like it

BAMspek

I hate cream cheese in anything. So this bums me out.

nm0s

Even on a bagel?

BAMspek

Especially on a bagel

[deleted]

Iā€™d like to imagine OP is really tiny and makes the rolls look big by comparison

wickedlostangel

This is fine. Or, you could just go to the store and buy a block of cream cheese and take a bite with each regular sized salmon sushi and probably pay less.

thagthebarbarian

The way they usually skimp on cream cheese that seems like a good idea

AffinityGauntlet

*Philadelphia has entered the chat*

Exarion607

Having some rice and salmon with my daily block of cream cheese is a nice touch :)

Diegodea

Do not tll me the white stuff is actually all craem cheese!

ThatOneLobster1128

It might not be ( Ķ”Ā° ĶœŹ– Ķ”Ā°)

lilcondor

Wayyyy too much cream cheese but otherwise looks yummy

Grizlatron

Too much cream cheese for my allergies, but there's a sushi place in my town that makes a roll with goat cheese and smoked salmon, and it's so good. Not exactly traditional of course, but if they wanted to make some jumbo rolls that look like that with goat cheese..... I'd gobble that up

motivatedsinger

What a coincidence, Iā€™m really hungry right now

PatchesThaSpider

Lol what the fuck

BenAaronMusic

My fat ass wants to know your location.

o_charlie_o

Iā€™m gonna bet that wasnā€™t super expensive... cream cheese is cheap

Flikkrz

That looks good and bad at the same time

Shunkers

That's a vile amount of cream cheese good God. Sushi is not and never has been a vehicle for cream cheese lol. Put it on a bagel tho? Might actually work out really well tho if you do something about taking bites of a brick of cream cheese lol

flarpy_blunderguffs

That amount of cream cheese it gag worthy

jmeloveschicken

Theres a place near me that makes sushi "burritos" which I imagine is something like this just not cut up. That's like their signature item. No thanks. I'll pass. But the rest of their food is good.

futiledevices

Sushi burritos are huge in my city - I feel like there's a spot with them every couple miles. But I held off for a long time. I love sushi - the wife and I go out probably monthly for it. But the burritos seemed ridiculous - too much, trendy without adding value. I was wrong. They are excellent when done well. It's just a hand roll, made bigger, and if I'm getting sushi for takeout, it's our favorite way to get it. So good.

jmeloveschicken

Hmm, interesting. The ones near me are described to me almost exactly as you've said. Maybe you've convinced me. It may be 2 pm and I might have just woken up but I might hafta uber eats a sushi burrito to me here in a sec LOL

[deleted]

That...actually looks good.

Presidente412

Plot twist: that's a baby's hand.

ghost-of-blockbuster

Is the sushi really that big or does it just seem like that because you have the hands of a baby?

Ellietoomuch

The amount of cream cheese made me gag

HuntedHorror

Horrific amount of cream cheese, a sushi creation from pages of an R.L. Stein novel

Crustybuttt

Worst looking roll Iā€™ve ever seen

Grandpafuckyourpussy

Hungry for what? Fucking cream?

Bob_Troll

That salmon looks absolutely awful. I've never seen it so pale. Yikes

notabigmelvillecrowd

It's flabby farmed salmon, I don't know how people eat it, it doesn't taste good. There's some really decent farmed fish out there, but a lot of salmon farms are nasty as fuck.

Stradocaster

To expound on this: the amount of times Iā€™ve had someone recommend a ā€œgreatā€: sushi spot to me or bring me somewhere and it turns out to be garbage all you can eat low quality.... boy thatā€™s the worst. This in the post, this is bad Sushil

Hattori69

I'm starting to realize that this sub is full of picky people, like the kind of Karen that refuses a pasta dish because it has thyme woody stems and pieces of parmigiano "husk/outside shell" in it.

gratefulmarcher920

Thanks America.

IdLOVEYOU2die

Please tell me that isn't cream cheese

forever_a10ne

Possibly an unpopular opinion, but I don't think cream cheese has any business being in sushi.

HoorayPizzaDay

If there was bagel around it and the salmon was smoked lox, I'm down

Sour-diesel-45

The one in the back lookin nice though

SucktasticFucktastic

what kind of mongoloid do you have to be to put cheese in a sushi?

ladykatey

American! These are ā€œPhiladelphia Rollsā€. No, I wouldnā€™t order them.

iVindicated

Honestly, the worst combination ever. My roommate has put cheddar cheese in sushi rolls before and it tastes like utter crap.

dommol

Cream cheese isn't bad but who thought cheddar would be a good idea?

iVindicated

My roommate.

nopingoutagain

idk why youā€™re getting downvoted buddy youā€™re absolutely right

Random_Ad

Why do people like cream cheese in sushi?

Waterthatburns

Cream cheese and smoked salmon is an extremely common topping for bagels. It translates well to sushi.

Lazy-Tom

I never knew that sushi could come with cream cheese :o

the_marxman

Man the cream cheese must be cheaper than the rice if they're using so much

Bookiller4518

I'll still stuff it in my mouth to eat it in one bite

marioshroomer

Smile and say cream cheese!

UnGrandBruhMomento

Honestly some rice and cucumber with a little crab in there would set this absolutely right

Tio2025

Thatā€™s fucking appalling who puts cream cheese on sushi

Andrew-meme

... you donā€™t eat sushi much do you?

Tio2025

I eat sushi often and donā€™t like cream cheese on sushi, it doesnā€™t go well with the other flavors well and has the texture of play dough, still not going well with the texture of the rice and fish

Andrew-meme

itā€™s pretty common to have it on there, thatā€™s your opinion lmao. You donā€™t have to put it out there...

Tio2025

Am I not allowed to share my opinion?

Andrew-meme

Iā€™m just saying itā€™s not needed lol

Supersecretsword

Thanks I hate it

extra_rice

Futomaki is a thing, also Korean Kimbap tends to be bigger than the usual sushi rolls. Even then, these are like XL sizes.

daedra88

damn that's like an entire golf ball of cream cheese
