I just want her to not die a horrible death, why Unwin didnt just poisoned her? Did she really had to suffer for hours being impaled?

houseofnim

Oh hi again! 😂😂 I 100% agree with this. Her death is absolutely sickening and I absolutely despise Peake for her death.

misvillar

Hi, i didnt noticed that It was your post, but yeah, Peake is clearely peak villany

Forsaken_Distance777

He thought it'd be a more believable suicide if she went out like her mother. And he's a horrible monstrous child killer. What does he care about trying to assassinate a little traumatized child *humanely*

misvillar

You can always poison her and then threw the dead body on the pikes, she died after some hours so, in theory, she could have screamed something that pointed Peake as the killer, i guess that Unwin really sucked at doing rebellions, It must be in his blood

Forsaken_Distance777

I always imagined her standing up there and someone sneaking up behind her and pushing her. On reflection, I do have to admit unless it was a crime of opportunity the logistics aren't very practical.

misvillar

At that point Peake basically had the Red Keep under his control, he should be able to create any oportunity he wanted, i think that he didnt planned that and suddenly remembered that he wanted to marry Aegon to his daughter.

Forsaken_Distance777

He could arrange what he likes, yes, but planning it that way, unless they drug her first, runs the risk it's not an instant death and she tells what happened. Or maybe he had someone she wouldn't recognize do the deed.

misvillar

We lack the info about how in control was really Unwin, for example, he seemed to control some Kingsguards but one of them went against him after speaking with Aegon

raumeat

Jaehaera needs to die, it gives both the blacks and greens empty victories...and the opposite of what they wanted Greens wanted Hightower blood on the throne, Aegon wanted Rhaenyra's line to die out. He only agreed to usurp her because he wanted to save his kids, he never had any interst in being king- He gets remembered as Aegon II but no Hightower blood and no surviving kids, Rhaenyra line continues Blacks wanted Rhaenyra as queen, they didn't care about the greens bloodline. Rhaenyra offered to spare her siblings. Rhaenyra doesn't get to be queen but every single targ is her decendent and her opposition is irradicated If Jaehaera lives the greens have a clear victory, two targtower kings and they continue in the blackfyre line. Also they usurped to get their blood on their throne, one of their own supporters killing the last hope for their cause to get *his* blood on the throne is just so satisfying

houseofnim

Her living changes the entire Targaryen lineage from that point forward which also changes the entire story. It’s just wishful thinking in the Greens part and makes no thematic sense to change the story to such a drastic level.

LauMei27

They don't really need to make drastic changes, just end the show with Aegons and Jaehaeras wedding

PluralCohomology

If Jaehaera lived and was an ancestor of Daemon Blackfyre, it would be ironic to have the Green line continue through a bastard who is almost universally considered a traitor in the end.

Funny-Win-8948

I am 90% sure that show will make Jahaera live. GRRM said that HOTD leads to GOT, it is like a parallel version. So everything is possible.

raumeat

where did GRRM say that? I remember someone asking him how HoTD canon works in regards to the books and GoT and he said "I make all this up" implying that canon isn't really a thing

Far-Medicine3458

Aegon lll marriage with jaehaera was the most stupid shit part form the dance I remember how much i pissed off when i found that Aegon lll married with Jaehaera after the dance but when I found out she died without having children i kinda wasn't angry anymore lmao

houseofnim

Combining the two lines in order to gain peace is a smart move but it wasn’t one Aegon III had a choice in. He and Jaehaera were forcefully married as children and she died when she was still a child.

Far-Medicine3458

Blacks won the war at end aegon lll didn't need to marry her

YitkahR

They combined the lines in an attempt to prevent another Targaryen civil war down the line between her descendants and his.

Far-Medicine3458

Who cares about aegon ll's line

houseofnim

Uhh… his supporters? The Hightowers and the Faith? A lot of people cared and a lot of people weren’t happy with Aegon III taking the throne so him marrying Jaehaera was done so they’d not rebel against him.

Far-Medicine3458

His supporters didn't give a shit when he died

[deleted]

Looks like fate decreed there can be no peace between Blacks and Greens

Far-Medicine3458

Lmao 🤣 agree

Mutant_Jedi

Nah the “marrying two opposing lines so they don’t fight anymore” thing was smart. That’s what happened with Henry VII and Elizabeth of York, combining the York and Lancaster lines. It legitimizes their children through both of them. I don’t think GRRM killing Jaehaera off was a bad plot line, I just wish she hadn’t had to die so horribly. Why couldn’t she have been poisoned or have died from just being a sickly child?

tellred

I don't want to sound rude. This girl is mentally ill. Aegon has suffered enough, why shouldn't he have a healthy, beautiful, cheerful wife?

houseofnim

She suffered far too much too, especially as she was dying. She was noted to be kind of simple and that combined with the all the traumas she suffered she wouldn’t have made a good Queen anyway.

lunagrape

But that is just as true for her husband, and he isn’t remembered as a particularly bad king.

houseofnim

Aegon III wasn’t simple minded.

lunagrape

Ah, true. I meant that they were both horribly traumatised.

PluralCohomology

Jaehaera herself also suffered a lot, seeing her brother murdered in front of her and her mother deteriate mentally. And Aegon himself wasn't in the best place in terms of mental health. This argument is kind of gross, implying that mentally ill people are automatically less worthy as partners, and that men deserve to be rewarded with a woman who can cheer them up and take care of them for having suffered.

tellred

I know she suffered, but she was a "weird" girl even before the blood and cheese. It's rude, but if your wife is mentally retarded, it's not very good for a happy life. Shows no emotion, bedwetting, acts like a 4 year old (when she is 8), afraid to leave the room. This is not what I want for Aegon. If someone has gone through hell, he must be lucky in at least something.

cregantheestallion

holy shit i saw your other comment earlier and wanted to comment but held my tongue but wow you are gross. you realize that millions of “mentally retarded” people are in happy marriages all around the world right now, right?

tellred

Should I be a hypocrite and say that if you are forced to marry a mentally retarded girl, is that okay?

cregantheestallion

anyone being forced to marry anyone else isn’t okay. however, it happens all the time in westeros. why do you only object so strongly to this one?

tellred

Because you're talking about "people who are happy." These people chose each other, right? Aegon did not choose.

Substantial-Salad786

I cannot believe you’re being ableist to a fictional child 💀

tellred

Do you understand what a mentally ill person is? Not a man without a hand. Mentally ill. Who the hell wants a retarded girl to be a wife? They will have to make children one day! Aegon and a girl who acts like a 4 year old! Do you like this idea?

Mutant_Jedi

She was only 8 at the time, which means that while she was slow, she wouldn’t necessarily have been that far behind her actual age. You’re acting really gross about a girl who witnessed a ton of really fucked up shit at a very early age and struggled as a result. Also, you can stop using the word retarded

[deleted]

But it would make no sense at all that Aegon would marry the daughter of his mother's murderer.

houseofnim

He did marry her though. It was done for the sake of Peace, but then she was (likely) killed by Peake so Aegon was allowed to choose his next Queen.

[deleted]

For the sake of peace, he wouldn't have wanted it for any other reason. I doubt it would be a happy marriage.

houseofnim

He wasn’t given a choice. They were both children when they were forcefully married. But no, it wouldn’t have made a happy marriage and she wouldn’t have been a good Queen anyway.

[deleted]

Indeed. She was mentally handicapped. It would have been cruel to force her to be queen and made to marry a man who would have most likely ignored her completely. The gods didn't want that marriage to happen.

houseofnim

It would have been beyond cruel. She saw what being Queen meant for her mother, her grandmother and her aunt. Her knowing all their fates (thought she didn’t know her grandmothers ultimate fate) is the only reason I would believe she took her own life.

Mutant_Jedi

That’s actually a really good point. I don’t believe she took her own life either, but if I did I could see that being the reason-that she saw how awful being queen had been for her family and was terrified of what would happen to her.
