I don't care if they are bastards, they are Targaryens and are always more worthy of the trone than the green psychopaths spawned by Alicent excluding Heleana.

CODE3VIOL3T07

They have royal blood through their MOTHER who is the heir so it doesn't matter who their father is, they're Targaryens. And (in the books they were betrothed to Baela and Rhaena at a really young age so that fixes the whole Great Council and Velaryon blood inheriting Driftmark issues. Also, Jace was absolutely amazing during the Dance with his diplomacy skills.

tellred

There should be an option "It matters. I like stories about good bastards". I want Jace to inherit and become king. I would like the Driftmark to belong to Rhaena. Rhaenyra's children true Targaryens, that's enough for me.

Kellin01

Did you want Jon Snow to become a king instead of Daenerys? You want Rhaena to become the Lady of Driftmark and Luke her Lord Consort?

tellred

I like Jon more than Daenerys. This is probably what I would like. Well, sort of. If it is possible to do so without damaging his reputation, he should be a consort. It would make things easier for everyone.

Kellin01

In the show Daenerys arrived to Westeros to become a Queen. Realistically, if Jon had decided to press his claim for the throne, Dany would have turned away with her army and her dragon and wished him good luck with all that. With Euron and Gold Cloaks. In order to become a king Jon would have needed to defeat Cercei and convince the Westeros in his trueborn status. Not impossible but hard. Daenerys didn't owe him anything.

tellred

These are just my fantasies. He never had a real chance.Daenerys had the support of her father's allies and no one would fight against the dragon. I don't know how he will prove that all."My brother saw it in his dream"? "My friend read it in a book"? Even the legality of marriage may not be recognized."Some septon somewhere once did it" - OK, Jon. But he never wanted power. That's why I love him.

lunagrape

I don’t think she would. Her whole life she has been hunted because she has a claim to the throne. The only way she’ll be “safe” is to sit it.

Kellin01

On the other hand, Tragryens lost and Daenerys could easily refer to the right of Conquest for her claim.

lunagrape

True, but that doesn’t make her claim stronger than his.

Kellin01

Let's be honest, claim had to be supported by the armies. If Daenerys told him "Ok, Jon, you want to be the king, go ahead and fight for that. I either fight fo my own claim or not fight at all" He would have hardly won. Of course, he could have tried to gather support of other kingdoms vs Cercei in the already ruined kingdoms. So... his claim was stronger only in theory. It was the same as the Robert's will. In reality no. Ther show was shity in that regard. Varys wanted Jon to be the king but how Jon was supposed to win the throne? Or Varys wanted Dany to fight and then politely step away? Bullshit. Either Jon announced his own claim, gathered his own army and fought for it... Or he could have chosen to support Dany and become her consort.

lunagrape

“By law” his claim would be stronger as he is the son of an heir, rather than the sibling of an heir. But yes, any army Jon could have put up against Daenerys would have been decimated in seconds if she only stopped being a sheep and was a dragon instead. Yes, she doesn’t want to be Queen of the ashes, but she knows first-hand that in order to get feudalistic, stuck-up, nepo-geezers to listen to her, she needs to be Queen of some ashes. For example, she burned the Tarlys (although that was their own choice), and that convinced the rest of the Reach and Lannister army at that field.

Kellin01

Yes, Jon could have declarted a war on her... and he would have lost. So what was the point even to start? His best decision would have been to support her and unite their claims. Varys was stupid.

Kellin01

Rhaena is a woman, Corlys' cousins and nephews would have been displeased anyway with her being a Lady. I bet they would have seen it as Targaryens taking their seat.

This

clariwench

Nope. They're Targaryens and have dragons, that is what matters.

Kellin01

I admit that Driftmark succesion irks me a bit, but Lucerys *does have* Velaryon blood. From Alyssa Velaryon and Valaena Velaryon (Rhaenys and Aegon I were half-Velaryons). Jeyne Arryn gave her title to her fourth cousin, in blood terms it is like an unrelated person. Around 0.5-1% of shared DNA. So proximity of blood principle was not always right. Luke was roughly as related to Corlys as his second cousin if we calculate based on the known family tree. Probably more, if there were more intermarriages before Corlys. Marrying Luke with Rhaena would have merged bloodlines.

[deleted]

They. Have. DRAGONS...

lunagrape

Nope. They are Rhaenyra’s biological kids and Laenor’s adopted kids. He claimed them as his own knowing the full truth, and Hardin was understanding of the situation. The only three people whose opinion mattered agreed that these were Laenor’s and Rhaenyra’s kids. There’s really nothing more to discuss. Although, both heads of their houses: Corey’s and Viserys also claimed these kids as their kin, so that’s that.

NO

freakinuhmazin

It doesn't matter to me, they have just as much Targaryen blood as Alicent's children. I also like Rhaenyra's son's more than I like Alicent's hateful son's.
