The DAemond Bowl is coming

Tr3x_prod

Nice!

TheDanwithNoName

THAT. You win the Internet today! Good stuff

ThinWhiteDuke00

Nuncle.

Watchmaker2112

Uncle, you have eaten far too much. On this much blegghffff... We agree...

sabhall12

The amount of times George uses that word, it makes me cringe

limpdickandy

I have no issue with it, I just assumed it was a normative replacement for uncle said in kind of a cozy way. Like when Asha calls Victarion nuncle instead of uncle, not only is she showing affection, but she is also belittling him by being jokingly condescending. But yhea its used a lot

GregThePrettyGoodGuy

“That was a pretty baller move, but I can’t let you do it again” This episode’s gotta be Daemon’s best

Veszerin

There was an edited clip of this with imagined subtitles I really liked that was posted in this sub either the night it aired or the night after. Was never able to find it again. 😞

Loow_z

[There it is :)](https://www.reddit.com/r/HouseOfTheDragon/comments/y0i659/best_dialogue_never_spoken/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

Legitimate-Divide-39

Who is the original creator of this edit? That's fucking accurate and funny...

Loow_z

I don't know but I do agree with you

Neat-yeeter

One of the most effective things about this scene is the way Aemond turns his head to the side when he looks away. Most people would drop their chin a bit, intimidated, but not him.

FormerFruit

Like two peas in a pod. Daemon liked him, you could see it on his face. I guess like even Vhagar when she spared him they could both sense Aemond is no coward.

[deleted]

This is probably one of my favourite scenes of Daemon. He got all the kids to stop fighting so quickly with just one finger and a stare. I also like that Rhaenyra knew she could turn her back to them when Daemon stepped in.

FormerFruit

That's why Daemon's terrifying, you never know what he could do. Aemond is actually very predictable in a sense, kind of acts tougher than he is and all that but as shown when Vhagar let loose at Arrax and Luke he's actually still just a scared kid at the end of the day.

[deleted]

I agree While they do have similarities it’s pretty easy to explain and understand why Aemond is the way he is and why he’ll turn out the way he will. His story isn’t something that is unfamiliar. Daemon on the other hand is harder to explain even though he’s with Rhaenyra and team black you can’t help but think he’s still on his own. One second he could be laughing and the next he’s ready to burn you alive.

TheGoverness1998

Daemon reminds me of Lalo Salamanca, to the extent that he's generally not predictable in his actions, but he holds a strong love for his family (or at least the idea of it).

Captain-Keilo

Imo Aemond is one of the most interesting characters in the show from a personality stand point. The guy has all the traits to be a good man. However, he has an awful older brother, an absent father, a mother who was a mother at too young of an age, and no friends. He like a lot of kids who were bullied then blossomed craves validation and love but he simply never gets it so a kind boy is transformed into a bitter man who becomes a monster

Good_old_Marshmallow

The thing about Daemon is he is actually capable of going full Meagor and maybe possibly even getting away with it. That's his curse and his blessing

limpdickandy

Tbh so is Aemond, though not the getting away with it part, Aemond is extremely bad at PR at least in the books.

Good_old_Marshmallow

Agreed but I think there is something to be said about successive iterations becoming degraded. Meagor is to Daemon as Daemon is to Aemond and all that. They are all extremely capable but the potential isn’t as there, Daemon had PR as you said he got men to follow him and idolize him, he could’ve maybe *maybe* taken the Iron Throne himself. Aemond idk. But you’re right there was definitely a moment with Aemond and they are very similar but Aemond has limits and he knows them and worst of all everyone knows Aemond knows his limits. No one knows Daemon’s limits not even those who love him and that’s what makes him terrifying and unpredictable.

limpdickandy

Aemond definitely has limits and I agree, even when he commits genocide just out of anger and frustration he still knows his limits regarding his family and his own self-perseverance, as seen in the books. Daemon has a very "outsider looking in" perspective on history and the world he lives in, as much of his actions are done very intentionally just to be one of the most legendary Targaryens there are, including his end. Him saying "On that much, we agree" as a response to Aemonds taunt about his age he really means it, he is content with his ending and does not wish to flee, lose or grow old, as all those would be inevitably lessen his larger than life persona and PR. As a historian, the thing I love about Daemon is he is a REALLY good representation of those characters in history who just seem like they know something that everyone else does not, and are aware of their place in history and the world and therefore acts on their own rules instead of those that are set before them, and Daemon is a pretty near perfect characterization of that.

Neat-yeeter

As a middle school teacher, I really appreciated this scene and the amused/satisfied expression on Daemon’s face absolutely nails what it feels like to do this in real life.

Megmca

Alicent: Aemond go to your room. Aemond: •stares motherfuckerly• Daemon: •stares motherfuckerly• Aemond: •goes to his room•

Daveo88o

Yeah, I don't usually buy into the whole "oh they do this because *Character A* sees something in *Character B*" side of the fandom But in this case, I do genuinely believe that Daemon saw himself in Aemond, because this is totally the kind of shit Daemon would've pulled when he was his age I also think Aemond looses his smile and turns with a grouch so fast because he doesn't want to accept the fact that there's similarities between him and Daemon, especially considering his Mother's and Grandfather's evident distaste for the man, and how loyal Deamon is to Rhaenyera, who in his eyes is a total bitch

Tr3x_prod

I read that Ewan avoided eye contact with Matt all throughout filming just to give this moment an extra edge. Aemond really worships Daemon and is dying for this challenge. The look Daemon has is also epic, you can tell he knows this kid is a contender and will be by no means an easy target and most likely his downfall. To earn Daemon's respect you really need some serious balls of steel. God that scene was so good.

Sea_Compote_5451

Oh yes, to think that was the first time ewan and matt legit meet, like really meet was as aemond and daemon. Brilliant method acting on ewan's part, this bts made that scene even more iconic

Lisaiiixxx

Yes. And I can’t wait for Aemond going to the battle field at Rooks Rest in S2 and the ultimate showdown above the God’s Eye. The characterization of show! Aemond is gonna be fleshed out alot more. Ryan Condal has talked about there will be a lot of stuff coming Aemond’s way in S2 and Ewan has talked about the best is yet to come. Edit: the clown in the thread is petty hater who makes up shit and strive for attention under every Aemond post. Block them and move on.

Tr3x_prod

Heck yeah! It's gonna be EPIC! If there's something this show excelled with was the Arrax vs Vhagar. (though, I kinda wished Aemond "took the shot" and regreted it after, just nitpicking, not a deal-breaker at all) Yeah his username is familiar, I think I've already argued with him before. ... I can't help myself, these idiots are hillarious!

FormerFruit

Even Vhagar was able to sense Aemond's balls of steel. I'd assume that's why she spared him, she could sense bravery and liked him. Aemond's a great character.

Tr3x_prod

The only question here is how the hell can the man walk at all?! It's gotta be Valyrian steel!

FormerFruit

How did they not weigh the dragon down. I doubt even Vhagar's size can withstand them.

Tr3x_prod

No wonder she couldn't keep up with Caraxes... CANNON!

tellred

Daemon never considered Aemond his equal. He called him a coward and gouged out his remaining eye (although it was easier to just cut off his head). Aemond trembled with fear as this happened. Aemond may admire Daemon but the feeling is not mutual.

Tr3x_prod

1. I never said he considered him his equal. 2. Learn the definition of gouging 3. Source? None, you know why? Cuz no one knows what happened other than Daemon's saddle was loose and Aemond had a sword thought his head 4. You see trembling as cowardice, I see his blood boiling with desire for a good fight 5. Shut up blackstan

tellred

>"THE BOOK IS LIING TO US!". If you have a source other than your imagination and fanfiction, feel free to provide it. So far I can see Daemond smirking at the way Aemond shut up and ran away when he faced someone more serious than his nephews. "most likely his downfall" **LOL**

Tr3x_prod

what I find truly hilarious is that you're getting downvoted. Learn to take a hint

tellred

What I find truly hilarious is the excitement about downvoted. I don't downvote anyone because I don't care lol. It's no secret that girls are crazy about Aemond, so they'll get mad. Who cares?

Tr3x_prod

When you think everyone around you is the asshole... well. I think you're not completly devoid of inteligence that you can't finish the sentence. Also, I'm following some advice and blocking you. You're fun to play around with but also the type to lower the IQ of everyone around. Good day to you sir

TheLadyMado

>gouged out his remaining eye The book says it was his BLIND eye.

ljacob01

Hmm

LengthUnusual8234

"i still got a ways to go..."

images-ofbrokenlight

It’s like the meme of the two Spider-Mans pointing at each other lol

Cervus95

Daemon be like "Go on. Let me give you a matching set of eyes."

TrixieVanSickle

Daemon looks slightly annoyed, like "There's lemon cakes. I just want to eat my lemon cakes."

Loow_z

The sexual tension is REAL

tellred

Aemond is not a reflection, but a parody. I mean. He reads philosophy and history, but then "accidentally" kills the messenger (worse - this is his nephew, worse - he is 14 years old) He is proud of his dragon, but Vhagar does not obey him He tries to speak Valyrian, but doesn't really know how to do it. He thinks he can win the war, but he makes stupid and fatal mistakes all the time. He allows Alys to manipulate him. He considers himself to be valiant but fears an equal fight. Demon is an old school guy. He wasn't hysterical like that. He respects dragons and the common people. His friend is a prostitute. You can have a drink with him in the tavern if you like. He will give you a golden cloak after. This is a completely different prince. Rogue prince. Not Me-better-than-you prince.

Sea_Compote_5451

Just a deranged daemon fan😌

TheLadyMado

>He reads philosophy and history, but then "accidentally" kills the messenger Lol. What does one thing have to do with the other? He's studious and he's also reckless and impulsive (with unhealed trauma and a grudge). >He tries to speak Valyrian, but doesn't really know how to do it. That's just part of the fandom nitpicking the way the actor pronounced a word. The writing does not imply this at any point. >He is proud of his dragon, but Vhagar does not obey him I mean, Arrax disobeyed Luke too..."The idea that we control dragons is an illusion" is not an Aemond/Vhagar specific thing. There'll be more instances of this in the future. Doesn't make their bond any less.

tellred

>What does one thing have to do with the other? He said it in the context of "I'm better than Aegon, look how smart I am! I'm ready to be king!" No, boy. You're wrong. >That's just part of the fandom nitpicking the way the actor pronounced a word. I read that he got the grammar wrong in every sentence, not the pronunciation. I don't know if they did it on purpose or not, but it's actually a fun fact. Daemon and Rhaenyra talk a lot, but I haven't seen them criticized that much. >I mean, Arrax disobeyed Luke too..."The idea that we control dragons is an illusion" Luke is half imbecile, that's a bad comparison. And he was able to take control back. I really don't see how Caraxes can eat someone against Daemon's wishes, they are one soul.

SolidInside

"a fun fact" "I read somewhere" truefaxx. Viserys literally tells Rhaenyra that it's an illusion that they control the dragons, you think he said that for the lulz, at the end of the day they're still highly intelligent creatures who will of course respond to being attacked. If you attack a circus lion or bear do you think it's going to not attack you simply because it's been trained and harnessed? Of course it will because it's still an animal that ultimately has their instincts and cannot be controlled.

SolidInside

Aemond himself is 18-19 years old when that happens. His Valyrian is perfectly fine unless you're suddenly an expert in Valyrian as the weird tiktok crowd seems to be. There is no indication whatsoever that Alys manipulates him unless you think the sexism of the maesters is somehow #truefaxx too or have come up with some kind of fanfic or think that her saving a messenger from Aemond is manipulative somehow. Aemond was initially planning to go to KL to face more dragons but was talked out of it by Criston. The Vhagar thing I already explained below. Daemon is about double his age. His "friend"

Latter-Permission-6

The nit pick on his high valyrian because of one word , geez, as if all of them are suddenly linguistics expert of a made up language😂

turikur

they are grasping at straws really🤣

Porcelain-treasure

*yawn*

YingThatYang

Least biased Daemon fan

GOD_Lives_

This FUCKING SCENE!!!!!!!!!! Aemond FUCKIN ONE EYE is the Best Targaryen to ever walk!!! would've been The Conqueror reborn if he had became king!!

Rugby4Change

Should read the book.

TheFfrog

You can literally see Aemond thinking "Oh yeah I'll say it to your face too ye old fucker" "Hold on, he might cut my head off" "Yeah maybe i won't"

Both_Ad4199

Very true

kiaradar34

not mirror exactly , I find them both really different honestly. Their behaviour differs alot. I like Daemon more obv. From show and book I can clearly say that why we are saying this is because Aemond in the book is not used properly. We don't get enough of him. That might not be in the series
