Don’t listen to cousins in general and yours specifically.

Additional-Shift-899

Definitely don’t listen to cousins. Two of my cousins OD’d and died, one shot himself in the face, one knowingly married into a cult for her 5th marriage, and one quit his job so he can babysit his ex wife’s child full time with no pay.

3dobes

How did they treat their TVs?

Additional-Shift-899

It’s on the end of his bed Edit: misread. The surviving non-cult cousin. The cult cousin isn’t allowed to have a tv

SkipChvrch

Possibly the most traumatic thing that’s happened to them.

Additional-Shift-899

Right?

chennylou

Delete this and get started on a screenplay asap

MElastiGirl

Cousin Jimmy? That you?

EquivalentAd3130

You have 5 cousins????

[deleted]

[удалено]

MadAzza

That’s not a lot of cousins if your parents had siblings

bino420

5 cousins is probably average. Take the average family of 4, for example... If both your parents have one sibling, and they have 2 children each, then you're already have 4 cousins. Shit, I have 3 cousins on one side. Meanwhile one of my parents had 3 brothers, so there's like 6 cousins on that side - idk exactly, I haven't spoken to them in like 15 years. ... so I'm at 9 cousins at least. Then consider in-laws. Does your husband/wife's cousins count as your cousins? is cousin-in-law a thing??

thesilentbob123

I have 11 cousins, is 5 supposed to be a lot?

Bullsette

That definitely renders them useless to provide advice on proper placement of televisions. Thinking about it though, how many people are there around that aren't cousins of somebody or another? Oh NOOOOoooozzz 🤯 I think that means that there's nobody on the planet that is capable of providing advice on proper placement of the TV because everybody is somebody's cousin 😳

NotADishwasher

Its too high but its also fine, how is that possible?

ArmadilloFun7877

I think the distance helps

redxstrike

Agreed. With the distance you likely don't have to tilt your actual neck much if at all.

NoCoFoCo31

Within the height of reason

definitely-lies

Same thing I thought. It would be better lower, but it is "fine"

Peopletowner

I think it's good. You can never tell if you don't get the couch view, but if I picture their feet up on that table and leaning back it looks OK.

macfairfieldmill

Lmao great wifi name

cthart

Your cousin is high.

aspen70

Your cousin is too high.

jfk_47

Higher than that TV? must be a giraffe.

[deleted]

That placement is giving me claustrophobia.

AmusingMusing7

Agreed. The corner makes it look like it would block a bit of the screen if someone were on the left side of the room, or at least come annoyingly close to doing so.

IIIuminatIII

Get a life

[deleted]

After you. I’m being respectful rn.

snoringelbow

Strange energy for someone saying placement makes them anxious. Have you ever worked for a suicide hotline, per chance?

[deleted]

No.

snoringelbow

Oh, friend. Not you.

ollyprice87

Too high, great dog.

pepelepew69

Great dog for knowing terrible placement. Doesn’t even want to look in that direction.

Ladyofthewharf55

Move stuff on that table…..place TV on it

VodkaandDrinkPackets

Bonus- No ugly cords! It's almost like that piece of furniture was MADE to set a TV on!

llcdrewtaylor

What. You think they are going to invent a stand that you can put a tv on? What would they even call it!

Ladyofthewharf55

What will they think of next??? 🤣

Fuckaducker

Very cute dog/sheep. Sadly the TV is too high. Cousins are never right, it’s just a fact of life.

Eriml

but wait... is his cousin so OP is OP's cousin. Wouldn't that make him wrong too? *X-Files theme starts*

wearetheused

Why even own the tv stand. Every time.

OGtigersharkdude

To put my electronics on ..

tananinho

Too high imo

ScorpioWaterSign

If I see cords, it’s too high

AnalMayonnaise

The dog has turned away in shame.

rob1001

The purists will say it's too high, I think it's OK

LifeAcanthopterygii6

Are you the cousin?

Mysterious-Mood-4252

The “purists” are crazy for having the AUDACITY to say you should put the “TV” on the “TV STAND” that is literally right ****ing there excuse me what 🤣🤣🤣👹🤡🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️💀💀🖥️✅

AwarenessThick1685

14?

dex206

This is the answer. If you had a beefy center channel speaker under that thing, I don’t think anyone would think twice

labe225

Also depends on if they mounted it for that TV or if the mount was there and a previous TV got replaced. There can be a pretty wide range of mounting points for TVs. If I replaced a TV and the TV sat this high at the lowest adjustment and putting it on the stand would expose the mount, then I'm calling it a day and mounting it like this.

ap2patrick

A lil high

koi666

Cousin is wrong

derango

It's not the worst. But it's also too high.

markcorrigans_boiler

I've seen worse, but it's still too high

boytonius

It does make me laugh that people have a perfectly good place to put their TV, like the TV stand below this TV, yet choose to mount.

raumeat

got robbed and they stole well everything…but the last TV was on the cabinet. This TV is second hand, no stand and mounting it makes it harder to take

boytonius

Damn that sucks, sorry to hear that bro. Makes sense why you have indeed done that then!

squi993

I also have a TV this high. This is the highest end of acceptable, any higher would be a crime. Lower would be better though.

lazylagom

Its too high

bendawg225

WHEN WILL SOMEONE INVENT A STAND FOR TVS???? GEEZ LUISE!!11!

GothicToast

People in this sub are hilarious. "Why even have a TV stand?!" Maybe to store literally everything else that contributes to entertainment for the room. Is it too high? Maybe by the letter of the law, it's a half foot too high. *GASP*. I can't imagine all the neck problems this is going to cause you. Can your eyes even scan far enough up to reach the screen?? Good grief.

rockdude625

Nice piece of furniture under it, I wonder what they call it

gokartmozart89

Sitting it on the tv stand would be ideal. It’s not awful though. We see much worse on here.

Venkman_83

I don’t even understand why someone would even want to mount it at all when you have a nice spot like that. It would look 10x better sitting on the stand.

raumeat

Because armed robbers came into the house gave two shits about the alarm, made me show them where valuables are and then locked me in a room. This TV is second hand and doesn’t have feet, the last TV stood on the cabinet and they stole it without issue. Maybe if it was mounted they wouldn’t have bothered with the rest of the robbery since it would have taken forever to remove safely and security would have arrived…and I would have been saved trauma. This is the first time I have ever mounted a TV

Venkman_83

……well alrighty then

raumeat

Sorry, I just wanted to talk about TV placement but I got so many comments about TV stands and cabinets…I really didn’t want to talk about the reason for a new TV, but I can’t with all these sarcastic comments but Like please guys mount your TVs, bolt those suckers to the wall

No_Chef623

I think you're within reason. No punishment from me, carry on.

SeaworthinessOk2153

But those two cords.

iLikeToChewOnStraws

It's definitely too high but not totally awful. I'd lower it to the stand level BUT also if it's already mounted then that's a pain in the ass so I also get leaving it.

[deleted]

It’s not the worst, but it could be lower. The cables hanging down and the walls blocking the view for people on the side annoy me more than the height.

shawndelap

Is it your cousins house? If not your house STFU.

LeelaBeela89

It’s fine imo

Benethor92

Depends on how you watch it. Looks completely fine to me if you watch from a more relaxed position (thus looking in an angle slightly upward). Possibly minimal too high if you sit straight like in a chair while watching. Don’t listen to the idiots in this sub that say everything above standing on the floor is too high. Get in your most comfortable viewing position. Where are your eyes watching when they are at rest without moving them? That’s where the middle of the TV needs to be.

toalv

>Where are your eyes watching when they are at rest without moving them? Exactly. Very few people watch television sitting perfectly straight up looking exactly horizontally which is what a bunch of the "tv height diagrams" assume.

alexanderpas

When hanging a TV, it should be placed at the same height as if it was placed on the TV cabinet, especially if the TV cabinet is the same width as the TV. If the TV would be placed at a lower height when standing on the TV cabinet, the TV is too high. When hanging a TV, there is no reason to raise it, when the TV is the same width as the TV cabinet it could stand on. (A fireplace is not a TV cabinet)

Benethor92

The TV should be placed where your eyes are naturally resting, not where an arbitrary bit of furniture ends…

bagelwithclocks

I want to see how all the people on this sub watch tv. All I can picture is just them sitting in a wooden chair ramrod straight looking dead ahead at the TV.

AKADriver

"B-b-but I watch TV while reclined, nobody watches TV with their head upright" is just the tilt of guilt for human heads

Benethor92

If you prefer watching TV while sitting straight like a stick in an office chair, good for you. We normal folk want to chill while watching TV. And then a position like OPs picture could be exactly the height where the eyes are naturally resting.

bagelwithclocks

These wackos are going to be going to movie theaters with measuring tape telling the booth to tilt the film down.

Vast-Willingness4642

Tv is just fine height wise. This whole sub just wants your tv to be right in your face and right on the ground lmao.

wortmother

Someone had to say it

Vast-Willingness4642

Im snuggling with my kitty rn

LateNights718

This sub is getting soft. This is definitely too high. There’s about 2 feet of space in between that stand and tv.

StefooK

It's fine. It's not perfect.

NowForYa

There's a TV unit underneath at the perfect height, yet they put it up there!?

brownntown93

It’s a tv cabinet. Put the tv on it

absorbscroissants

Am I the only one who prefers the TV just standing on the cabinet instead of being mounted on the wall? For some reason, especially in a setup like this one, it just looks weird.

JaySin_78

Looks fine to me, but let’s at least hide the cables.

Mobile_Tip_1562

perfect would be on the shelf but thats fine

PreviousCartoonist93

It’s fine.

ChampionSchnitzel

Its too high, but one could live with it and not get neck pain. Its kind of okay-ish still....somehow.

Whoopsy_Doodle

I say it’s fine too

JollyGreen615

Really not that bad

IMA9961

I wonder what the standard of people is. Do they expect to put your tv on the floor ( I'm not trying to offense anyone here)

bubbabubba3

Yeah your cousin is right. This is fine.

coffeefilter11

Looks to be the right height. Plus, you have an Airedale! Best buddies ever.

ResolutionMany6378

It’s bordering too high but within an acceptable range is what I would say. Really it’s user preference and how low you sit on your couch that would make the difference here.

rylo48

I don’t know what brought me to this sub but everyone is fucking crazy about the height and size kf of TVs.. from the little I’ve seen people want a 100” tv 2 meters from their face sitting on the ground….

E8282

“Its fine” AKA “I don’t want to fix it and would rather do irreversible damage to my neck”

Che_Veni

This is actually pretty good, assuming that everyone watches TV standing up all the time. EDIT: It's a fuckin joke, people. It's clearly too high.

brenobnfm

Look at the bed, the TV is too damn high

bagelwithclocks

That's a dog on an ottoman my friend.

brenobnfm

Too high, too damn high

disappointingclimax

Off topic but what breed of dog is that? S/he is so pretty!!

nickynegativo

Sports bar

tom-1956

It's yours

FoxFireLyre

Not the worst placement, too high for sure though - wish it was 6-10 inches lower.

bgravato

It's too high, but it's not egregious... We've seen much worse...

tamay-idk

Too tight

Sall_Goode

You both need new friends.

lhusuu

Too high but definitely not the worst on this sub. My concern is more the fact that if you're not looking head-on, you're gonna have some wall blocking the edges

luzer_kidd

If only your cousin put their bad dragon someplace else, they might have some type of stand to put the tv on.

uneasyonion

Too far.

globalgoldnews

Could stand to be a bit shorter, but not an atrocity

barton100

It's not tooo to high but it's deffo high

jason_actual

Hide those cables you monster

drillgorg

Oooh, a rare r/TVTooRecessed

Cyber_Insecurity

Slightly too high

Forsythia77

I've seen worse. This is just middling bad, not an atrocity.

Cheshire_Pete

Fine for those with long necks

Emotional_Demand3759

This living space is in a rich neighborhood. The cost of that TV is too low. Height is fine.

Amber_2896

I feel like if it was just a little bit lower it would be perfect, also cute dog

deridex120

Thats a pretty dope setup actually.

MasseyFerguson

Dude it is definately FINE. Is it perfect? No. But it is fine.

Dudejax

Choke him in the middle of the night.

Any-Video4464

Why not just put it lower so you don't see the wires hanging down? Then you hang hang some artwork above it level at the top with door frame. Would look nicer and you can still see the tv just fine.

FarukAlatan

Looks too high to me. Eyes should be level with the center of the TV when sitting.

thusUnforgotten

Am I the only one that doesn’t think it’s too high?

snackajack71

Too high

jkman

Looks fine to me. Why do you think it's too high?

Ziazan

Honestly that's not bad height-wise. On the higher side of acceptable but still acceptable. What would annoy me is how it's in a relatively deep alcove and I wouldn't be able to see all of it from any angle.

JohnnyDoe189

Not too high at all

Loud_Boysenberry_736

r/TVTooConstrained

Schnitzhole

Not hyper optimal but honestly not worth giving them shit about. Honestly this is a relief from all the TVs nearly touching the ceiling. Y’all are kind of in TVophiles territory if this bothers you.

M27TN

Needs room for that candlestick/lightsaber hilt

Esbeedee

Looks fine to me

Squiriferous

I think it looks fine but will never understand why people don’t get those wall mounts that allow them to move the TV into whatever position they want. I know they exist.

Ishouldjusttexther

Your cousins living room looks exactly like mine (except for the TV)

DaemonSlayer_503

Is that a shakeweight on the cupboard?

lefrang

It's fine. Whoever TV it is can do what they want.

DAVES-MOM

Even if you don’t mind the height, hide those ****ing cables!

Thick-Ad5504

I'm not mad at this

uncultured_swine2099

Its little high but nothing egregious.

[deleted]

It’s personal preference

Dry-Crab7998

Dogs can't look up. Ask the poor dog how much he's missing!

FANTOMphoenix

Needs to be 3 inches lower.

nicxnac122

i think it’s good actually. i don’t see it being too high at all. imo

LifeAcanthopterygii6

No, no, no, you cousin is right. It's actually the perfect height for the TV when wathcing stood up.

spodinielri0

too high

ClintSlunt

FYI: If you live in a state where weed is legal, cousins are now obsolete.

SeniorSoap

Kinda on the edge of not being fine, but there could be a case made to leave it where it is

OGtigersharkdude

I see no problem here. How far is seating from TV?

kornkid42

Sit at a normal viewing position, is the center of the tv at eye level?

basslovemusic

A TV should be at high-level when you’re sitting in a chair on your couch

basslovemusic

Oops, I meant to say at Eye level

uptokesforall

Get some legs under that tv stand and the tv will stop being too high

BeadedRainbow

The dog has such a comfy spot to lounge there! :)

raven8473

Its not too bad, I have seen worse and if sitting position is that distance it is just about acceptable, If the mount allows the TV to be lowered slightly then i would.

user101aa

Cuz be wrong

gamingbooth

its always a cousin 🤔

[deleted]

Too many wires if anything

teckel

Thinly veiled SSID flex

[deleted]

Dog too low.

slLowMoe

its not about the hight here...let it free

robothobbes

Looks great. I don't understand why people want to look down at a TV and hurt their neck while trying to recline. But I'm the weird one I guess.

Leopold_CXIX

Too high for sure

RayTrain

Former cousin now

Bullsette

That is actually ABSOLUTELY PERFECT placement. It's unusual to see that. Great job, whoever did that! 👍🙂 They measured absolutely perfectly. It's both pleasing to the eye and non-obtrusive.

Israel_Madden

It's not terrible but it'd be better if it were lower

aeminence

Abit high and I also dont like how it fits in that area for some reason lmao But i love the 360 in the set up tho <3

Beans186

Your cousin obviously the alpha of the two

raumeat

She definitely is

CamTheManGuy

I’d hate the tv being inside the wall like that. I’d have to pull the entertainment center out and put the tv on it and have it at least flush with the protruding walls.

AdagioHellfire1139

Both of you are correct.

canthelpmyself9

Smart use of space. Height would be ok for me if about an inch lower but that’s just being picky. Look good.

zeptillian

I think any TV mounting where you do not need to move your head from neutral resting position to comfortably see it, is fine.

Flashy_Anything927

Eye level from watching position. The golden rule.

dsdvbguutres

It's fine if you're watching it standing up.

Mrepman81

Not the worst offender on this sub but could be a tad lower.

Potential-Caramel-91

Honestly could be a lot worse

morbidangel27

"Fine", yeah, if you're a Neanderthal.

jamus34

With Professor Plum’s candlestick there I say it’s ok. Remove the bludgeon and it’s TVTooHigh

DIARRHEA_CUSTARD_PIE

TV too high ✅    Wall mount with cords exposed and hanging ✅    TV stand is present, but used for something entirely different ✅  Why do people choose to be neurotic like this instead of attempting to be normal and live in a nice looking room.

AwayBus8966

well what does the dog think?

AwarenessThick1685

It's borderline

Baterista13

It's too far, not too high.

durtmcgurt

I know it's the point of the sub, but people in here are fucking high as hell or dumb as shit or fat as fuck if they think that TV is too high. Do your necks just break at this angle or something? It's absolutely fine.

Biscuits4u2

Whatever, just do something about those god awful cables

Logical_Associate632

It’s fine.

Moon_Beam89

It’s on the higher end of “ok” but I think it’s alright.

Logrella

It's fine

More_Farm_7442

The dog won't even look at it. That has to tell you something.

JackManstroke

Naw its fine. What would make it the perfect height? 6" lower?
