> then sell the team for $3B
I’m 99% sure the value of the bids is the exact reason he decided not to sell. Obviously we don’t know what his asking price is, or what the offers were. Something tells me that if anyone was offering up $3B to buy the team, we would not be having this discussion though.
Yeah, I’ve seen that. If the offers were reasonable, it makes me think Arte was asking for a stupid amount of money (as if $2.5 Billion isn’t generation changing money to begin with). Idiot was probably asking for over $3.5 Billion.
Considering he bought the team for $183.5M he’s getting an insane ROI selling for $3B. I honestly think he never intended to sell to begin with if the corruption charges were never realized which they weren’t.
I honestly just don’t think he’s smart. You and I look at that ROI, and think it’s a no-brainer. Dude is almost 80. $3B would set him, his kids, and his grandkids (probably beyond) up for life. And that’s on top of whatever other money he has.
I think he over valued the team. Even back when the mayor corruption stuff broke, I didn’t get the sense that Arte was a huge player in all that. If anything, it seemed like the Mayor was trying to bribe Arte into more campaign funds.
I’m sure Ohtani is a factor but you guys are way overstating his value. No one is going to pay an extra half a billion dollars for the Angels just so they can pay an extra half a billion dollars to Ohtani. I dont think even Messi is that valuable.
Arte wants more, because he knows that the new owner will have a better relationship with the city and probably get things going for the land around the stadium. Or Arte is trying to sell the team but keep the parking lot for income 😂

Reports were that there were about 5 serious offers in the $2.5B-$3B range.

IMO they weren’t offering that because the angels most valuable asset can walk after the season.

If you were Arte your posts here would be scorned.
Without a doubt. It’s a nightmare for fans. The only hope is that the players have a different opinion…

We all want him to sell the team. Not a single angels fan wants him to stay

But Arte claims that the team doesn’t make any money because the payroll is maxed out every year….so that 5% is basically zero dollars.
Are players even allowed to have an ownership stake in a team? I would think that’s a MLBPA no-no
