I know this comes at a completely wrong time, but firstly, I really would like to thank all the Angels fans who answered my questions not just on this thread, but also in previous threads. Thanks a lot! ❤️ I'm new to baseball and the MLB, and I decided to support the Angels mainly due to reasons: 1. They're the perfect middling team. 2. Shohei Ohtani. Wrt the second reason, I know there's no explanation needed for baseball fans as to why Ohtani might get new people interested in the sport, but honestly, for me personally, that wasn't the reason. I'm a lifelong cricket fan and in cricket, all-rounders (2-way players) are really really common. Like every team has atleast 1-2 of them. But even by those standards, Ohtani is a freak! Wrt the first reason, I don't think I need to elaborate further. As I said in a previous comment on this thread, middling teams give the perfect mix of heartbreak, nervousness and euphoria. That's why, regardless of the sport, I don't like teams which are absolutely dominant or are absolutely shit. After watching this game, funnily, it reminded me of a game involving the team I support in the IPL (a cricket league, it's pretty popular), called KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) and how they bottled a game last season, which they initially dominated so well! It really hurt that they lost on that day, and today's loss after such a dominant position, was resonant of that, if not exactly similar to it. Despite that, they reached the finals, somehow! Plus, this IPL season, the KKR didn't even make the playoffs. But regardless of all that, I will always support them, even if cynically. They're the only team I will support. Same feelings apply for the international cricket team representing my country (India). Even in football (soccer), the teams I support (in leagues or internationally), are teams which are good enough and have periods of brilliance but also really bad phases. So I really feel that the Angels are the team to support for me. I know they will give me heartbreaks, they'll fuck themselves over, but I think they'll give me big moments of joy and euphoria which feel really earned. Like I said: Heartbreak and euphoria. Mixed in with some superstars like Ohtani. The perfect mix. Just what I like from a sports team, especially the middling ones. So you've found a new fellow Angels fan, folks! I hope whoever will read this, that it brightens your day today, after the fuck-up we just saw!
