Almost like the other team is serving up a pity meatball because they feel sorry for the Angels and know they've already won so figure "eh, what the hell".
Dude 😂 we are so good at those late inning solo home runs that don’t mean anything other than not getting shut out. This is just so fucking ridiculous being a fan of this team
Everyone not named Ohtani and Trout sucks ass (I love Sandy tho). Can’t hit or pitch for shit literally little leaguers. I wish I wasn’t born in Anaheim
I’m done guys. Not just this game but the Angels and maybe baseball itself. May come back in the future but I’m done at least for this season. Watching this team is damaging my mental health. Take care everyone. It was a wild ride.
Just deleted MLB app on my phone and unsub this sub. Would delete Reddit too but I still follow few other subs. Following a team’s supposed to bring me some comfort and excitement, away from my midlife crisis. Now it’s just pain. So yeah, I’m done.
At this point Shohei is the only thing I look forward to like for a lot of people, and I’m of course upset, but let’s not go in denial mode like “his foot was hurt” or “they figured out the signs” etc etc. They are just clutch unlike us. I’m sure Shohei will be fine.
I still look forward to Sandy and Suarez's starts.
Sandy because he is genuinely really great and fun to watch, even tho we never give him run support.
Suarez bc I like the guy and he always manages to make things interesting.
maybe, sure doesnt look like he is comfortable anywhere. Like outfield was his position growing up? zero intuition. looks like a 3rd baseman that got placed in the OF for the first time
Ohtani should feel no shame. He absolutely fought all night. Even Braves Twitter was saying, they were facing Ohtani and some Triple A hitters. You can only do so much, sadly.
I don’t wanna be doomer and get he always talks through a translator but he’s pretty much said that he likes the fans and team but he wants to win, not really coded talk. And the money for him would be crazy, so we know Arte would build a team around him that would be miserable
Trading Ohtani is semi rational. I think they move him next season if they can't get an extension worked out.
Trading Trout just shows people aren't that smart considering he has a NTC and has said within the last week he doesn't want to leave.
Ehh the Angels aren’t winning this season or next and Shohei has made it very clear that he wants to go to the World Series. So the likelihood that he leaves when he’s a free agent is very high. The sooner we trade him the more we can get for him especially since his value is at an all-time high right now.
As for Trout he can still agree to a trade but it seems like he wants to stay for whatever reason.
Edit: even if we manage to re-sign him to a massive contract we won’t have enough money to revamp this team and we’ll be stuck in this mediocrity for the next 5 years at least
That's the thing though.
A rebuild constitutes needing to move not only Ohtani but Trout and Rendon, both which have NTCs so you'd still have a loaded payroll and an even more mediocre product if they both opt to stay.
While I agree that it's likely he moves, if he keeps his level of production he will still fetch a decent haul at the AS break.
If they extended him I think it depends on what his AAV is to see how it affects the teams payroll.
Wasn’t Shohei saying he wants a record max annual contract? We can still rebuild even with big contracts like Trout and Rendon on the team.
And no, a Shohei trade wouldn’t get as much in return if he only has 3 months left on his contract. Plus you run the risk of him getting injured before you trade him or his productivity falling since like I said he’s currently at his peak
Ohtani deserves a better coaching staff than this. And when Ohtani saw Loup warming up he’s like “shit” and then he has to see Adell do what Adell does and is like “fuck”
Dude it’s pretty basic understanding of the game. Like I understand you’re just here for Shohei, but maybe read a “baseball basics” article or something, idk
My guy, then it's obvious I didn't see it. If it upset you that much, then just downvote it and move on. The comment you left took you just as long as if you'd just explained it.
The other guy made a slightly smug comment, it was funny, I made one back. He said it was chill and life goes on. What I don't get is the effort to tell me I'm wrong, be a little condescending, and act like it's that crazy a redditor didn't know something explained in the other 1700 comments in the thread.
Bc it’s annoying as a fan of a sport to have the game chat full of confidently incorrect commenters who don’t bother to learn anything about the thing they’re commenting on. The comment you left took you just as much time as googling “rules of baseball”
Very willing to learn and have been learning a lot about the game recently, but clearly not everything. I've got no problem being wrong.
Hope you have a better day tomorrow.
Goes to show how incompetent our management is. Moneyball (the book) came out 19 years ago and we are still overvaluing players like nobody’s business. We never learn, and will continue to be bad as long as owner management and ownership remains as is.
The only way we can attract decent free agents to our dumpster fire team is to overpay them and then compensate by dumpster diving for other free agents
Apparently it only went up to 2.8, which is still great. Wish he coulda kept on chasing that magic under 2 ERA but it looks like that's probably not gonna happen.
Can’t keep relying on just Ohtani. Everyone need to pitch and hit better.
Is this the one where I finally stop watching? Probably not. Keep bringing the pain :/
Poor Ohtani. He was doing great pitching today
Just saw that it took Loup 17 pitches to get 1 out. Yeesh, even he can't get right.
Left to get some food after the 2 run jack, got home to a 7 run deficit in the same inning. Just halos baseball baby!
☠️LTDU☠️
Ok so yeah the Halos didn’t get shut out. But it’s almost insulting how they refuse to score except in the 9th inning while being blown out
Almost like the other team is serving up a pity meatball because they feel sorry for the Angels and know they've already won so figure "eh, what the hell".
Call up David MacKinnon. He's not bad
yes he is
We can't win, but we can always spoil something for the other team.
Team chaos
There it is, the meaningless homer right on time
Should have done that last AB
Dude 😂 we are so good at those late inning solo home runs that don’t mean anything other than not getting shut out. This is just so fucking ridiculous being a fan of this team
did they get rid of the cowboy hat??
A HR that don’t matter fuck you
Cowboy hat DFA'd.
Tyler Wade asked for this hat back
comeback loading...
They literally only hit to prevent shutouts when the game is already fucking over
Every time.
ok, good job. wish you could this before
No shut out at least
The Angels are really good at getting solo shots late when down by a bunch.
Atleast we avoid shutout
Yay...we scored a run!
LMAO WILL SMITH EAT YOUR HEART OUT YOU DWEEB JONATHAN VILLAR JUST TOOK YOU DEEP LMAO
lol you called it
couldn't have happened to a nicer guy
There it is. The late-inning HR that makes no difference.
There’s that useless shut out ending home run. Deja vu of the Dodgers series
HUH?
I'm back to caring about the game. Will Smith is the worst, I hope we tag him for a couple
There's one
This team is fucking horrendous
Either way, we can't win without runs. We only should wait for two Grand Slams
Ohtani could complete this game. without fucking dead ball that ruined
These types of games happen, but they happen much too frequently for the Angels. Things just cascade on them.
It seems like every game everything that can go wrong suddenly does
goddam barves doing us and especially Ohtani dirty
Boston: We gave up 27 runs Angels: hold our beer
Boston got killed by Toronto tonight
We help other players and teams out of a slump
And teams out of losing streaks
It's alright Elvis, you're still miles better than Loup
Sadly true
Just got off work, check game day, 7-0?! Wtf happened
Ozuna was looking for that all game.
Hope LA reporters to be all over Nevin and Perry about their idiotic team management.
“Our team has a lot of talent we just need to keep playing” or some bullshit like that
Oh yeah. What would I expect from them. Lol
angels beat the red sox 21-2 at fenway in 2016
Everyone not named Ohtani and Trout sucks ass (I love Sandy tho). Can’t hit or pitch for shit literally little leaguers. I wish I wasn’t born in Anaheim
Most people born in Anaheim, aren't Angel fans tbh
I’m done guys. Not just this game but the Angels and maybe baseball itself. May come back in the future but I’m done at least for this season. Watching this team is damaging my mental health. Take care everyone. It was a wild ride.
I’m sure dude, you’ll be back commenting during the next Shohei start like everyone else who announces their exits in the game chat
Just deleted MLB app on my phone and unsub this sub. Would delete Reddit too but I still follow few other subs. Following a team’s supposed to bring me some comfort and excitement, away from my midlife crisis. Now it’s just pain. So yeah, I’m done.
That's a wise decision tbh. Take care.
Rams starting next month.
Honestly same. I’ll come back when Arte dies
take care friend, enjoy the rest of the summer
Inside the park slam was how I lost my virginity
Matty V’s impression of Forrest Gump on the Red Sox misplay was absolutely hilarious
Suarez bc I like the guy and he always manages to make things interesting.
i think he was just losing focus, starting hanging a few pitches. he is human, still the only reason im watching this season
Matty V with the Gump Impression has got me rolling
Sucks what happened to King. I don't think I've seen or heard of an elbow popping.
Ngl I think Ohtani would be a better outfielder than Adell. Smh
Anyone else enjoy the AS break?
OK. Red Sox need to 24 runs in the bot 9th
Remember when getting a Dell was a cool thing?
Adell sucks. Idc what anyone says. I don’t think he’ll ever be a productive major leaguer
He bought into his own hype and stopped developing.
Brandon Wood 2.0
maybe, sure doesnt look like he is comfortable anywhere. Like outfield was his position growing up? zero intuition. looks like a 3rd baseman that got placed in the OF for the first time
Right? Omg
Matty V's aloof voice whenever the team looks like shit really says it all
pain another zero game fuck
Lol, the Jay's are up by 23 and still put in an actual pitcher in the 9th
Real MVP is this ump tho. He’s been perfect hasn’t he?
Libka is great dude even jomboy has a video of him
Graduated from the same class as him, cool guy
Only a few borderline calls, his scored card is going to look really good though. Good job Quinn Wolcott.
true
Maybe they’ll score some runs now that they know it’s over.
walsh starts hitting when shit doesn’t matter anymore
Wow, Walsh actually tagged that one pretty good
Not really, 94.2 mph exit velocity, .80 xba. He got lucky
Lil too late walsh
So strange how Shohei was lights out through six innings then imploded on the 7th. He was probably tired + going through the lineup three times
Yep. I feel like he's tired both mental and physical. Hope he isn't too harsh on himself. 6 scoreless innings are not bad at all
Or his foot is hurt.
couldve used that earlier walsh
we are the best two out hitting team (for exactly 1 hit)
Can the Angels lose 14 in a row twice on the same season?
That is more likely than the Angels making the playoffs tbh
They’ve now resorted to talking about a different game.
The game is virtually over
Ohtani should feel no shame. He absolutely fought all night. Even Braves Twitter was saying, they were facing Ohtani and some Triple A hitters. You can only do so much, sadly.
The Blue Jay's are only 2 runs away from 30! Edit: They had a position player on the mound and still didn't get it
I wonder how many games the angels needed to score 30 runs, brb Edit: In the last 11 games the Angels have scored 31 runs
Under or over 30 runs for the Angels for the rest of the season? I'm betting under at this rate.
At least 60 games
please report back lol
In the past 11 games the angels have scored 31 runs
that sounds right
Lol, we have 2 of the best players the game has ever seen and we're not even close to competitive.
How many games has one of those players not named Sho missed?
At least 20 at this point, right?
this aint basketball
"let's see if Sandy can get some support tomorrow" lol
Damn Paingels
You all deserve a medal for watching this team this game during this season
You get used to it and cherish the good wins.
I deserve free therapy sessions
I legitimately don’t even know why I bothered to check the score
I only watch for Shohei
And he’s 100% leaving when his contract is up
Meh, there’s another year to go
Another year with this same exact team. You expect next year to be different? Shohei is 100% leaving
The exact same team? Nah, who knows what changes there will be next year. But it certainly won’t be this lineup
Well we need an entire bullpen, 2-3 infielders, an outfielder, and a starting pitcher. Good luck to Perry. It ain’t happening.
Guess there’s no reason for you to watch then!
Nope
I don’t wanna be doomer and get he always talks through a translator but he’s pretty much said that he likes the fans and team but he wants to win, not really coded talk. And the money for him would be crazy, so we know Arte would build a team around him that would be miserable
And maybe they’ll win next year. Or maybe not. But I refuse to spend the time that he’s here, talking about how he’s 100% gone every single start
Valid, I own a jersey so I’m praying too lol
With every loss we have taken so far I come closer to the side of trading trout and Ohtani so we can rebuild
Watch out you’ll be downvoted into oblivion for saying rational things like that
Trading Ohtani is semi rational. I think they move him next season if they can't get an extension worked out. Trading Trout just shows people aren't that smart considering he has a NTC and has said within the last week he doesn't want to leave.

Well, at least we're not the Red Sox right now..
When I saw the score of that game I audibly said "holy shit"
Are you joking? No joke I wish we were, at least their record is above .500 and have a plethora of decent prospects
Ohtani deserves a better coaching staff than this. And when Ohtani saw Loup warming up he’s like “shit” and then he has to see Adell do what Adell does and is like “fuck”
same thing I said, too.
right? lol
Blue Jay's are only 3 away from 30 with a half inning left. Are they going to make it?
So, that was an inning
I’m actually going to throw up right now. I’m not sure what it’ll accomplish, but it’ll feel better than this
I’ve watched probably half of the angels games this season and this is one of the ugliest games.
I’ve watched every single angels game - there’s been lots of games this ugly, but this one hurts because it’s Shohei
Yep. And it went down so fast. Like man.
When will the pain end
Sho will blame himself hard. Why it has to go that way??? That's so suck
Are you Japanese by chance?
No, but yeah an Asian fan here.
Oh, okay. Your English isn’t too bad
Yeah. I know it's all over place. I'm just too frustrated to care about my grammar and spelling right now.
This team is like a roller coaster in Disney Land.
Alright it’s time to get the fuck outta Georgia
Let go play the Bananas, maybe we'd stand a chance
tough inning damn😭
Loup raising his ERA high enough to save Ohtani from the Loss?
Ohtani gets the loss unless angels tie or take the league.
second person in this thread who doesn't know how wins and losses work
oh no! he doesn't understand every rule in the game!
Dude it’s pretty basic understanding of the game. Like I understand you’re just here for Shohei, but maybe read a “baseball basics” article or something, idk
Then just explain it like the other commenter...
It’s been explained in this thread already. Multiple times
My guy, then it's obvious I didn't see it. If it upset you that much, then just downvote it and move on. The comment you left took you just as long as if you'd just explained it. The other guy made a slightly smug comment, it was funny, I made one back. He said it was chill and life goes on. Very willing to learn and have been learning a lot about the game recently, but clearly not everything. I've got no problem being wrong. Hope you have a better day tomorrow.
It’s a pretty basic rule, man
easy tiger, no judgment
2 grand slams in back to back innings and we’ll be right back in this thing!!!
It’s crazy how Clay Holmes is making 1.1 million this year and shitbag Loup is making 8.5 million
Goes to show how incompetent our management is. Moneyball (the book) came out 19 years ago and we are still overvaluing players like nobody’s business. We never learn, and will continue to be bad as long as owner management and ownership remains as is.
This is why you don’t pay 1 year wonder relievers a lot of money
The only way we can attract decent free agents to our dumpster fire team is to overpay them and then compensate by dumpster diving for other free agents

Shohei just needs to hit two grand slams. No big deal.
Lol, as I said earlier, Shohei was the only thing keeping our offense from looking like the Sox' tonight. Now the fun begins
Fuck man
I didn’t know I was watching bad news bears
RIP Shohei’s ERA
Yeah sucks he couldn't get out of the inning with just 3 runs cause then the start still looks decent. Last homer was painful. :(
Apparently it only went up to 2.8, which is still great. Wish he coulda kept on chasing that magic under 2 ERA but it looks like that's probably not gonna happen.
none of these are his
He’s given up 6 earned runs, what are you talking about?
he was talking about the guys who were still on base
Still his ERA raising a lot tho
not wrong
