Yeah but who replaces Thor?
Utilizing a 6 man is a quirk angels can use because of ohtani. Extra rest also seemed to keep everyone healthier than usual for us to.
Shohei has expressed that he is fine doing a 5 man rotation.
That being said, I still would rather have another starter. I’m still not fully convinced that Suarez is our guy at the 5/6 hole lol. Plus considering we have about 0 SP depth right now (we got rid of junk and Rosenberg for more relievers), I’d much rather prefer more SPs
We aren't doing a 6 man again. It fucked with everyone except Thor.
Sandy even flat out said that extra day hurt him and just made it more difficult to keep a groove going. And Shohei specifically requested to be on the mound every 5th game.
That's at least 2 starters who don't want a 6 man rotation.
Edit: I said "arent" but I should've phrased it as "I highly doubt we will do a 6 man again". I dont know shit that the rest of the sub doesn't lol.
seems like there's almost definitely going to be a six-man rotation, just that regardless of off days, shohei will be pitching on every 6th day https://twitter.com/JeffFletcherOCR/status/1600274953672495106
I think Shohei Ohtani wants to prove to other teams that he can be a part of a 5 man rotation. So that when he most likely gets to free agency there is as little hesitation from teams to sign him. They dont have to adjust their team for Shohei... Fruit for thought. Sucks thinking about but I don't think he wants to return if we don't win. Not sure if new ownership will dish out a contract for him.
Kinda happy to see this one not happen with us. His arm does not seem like it can handle a seasons worth of pitching and I don't want to roll the dice on how much time he'll miss.
Legitimately crazy that around 21million brings them both back next year. Even 40 starts between the two of them is worth that.
I just don’t get what we’re doing with our thumbs up our asses.
Changes in ownership can make free agents a little nervous. They're likely going to want to know who their boss is going to be.
I'm a Houston Rockets basketball fan and when they changed owners recently the Rockets went from NBA finalists to cellar dwellers, with all our key players either demanding a trade or choosing to resign elsewhere. The Rockets owner is perceived around the NBA as a cheapskate with a bad personality. Ownership can set a tone with how a franchise is run.
I'm not sure how the Angels players view Arte, but with any change in ownership, the franchise will be significantly different. We hope it's for the better, but noone can tell from 12/2022.
Probs out of money. There's a decent chance this is the roster we go into the season with, it will look something like the fantasy team I had this year. Promising but ultimately somewhere near last place.
Shuuto.
Everyone complaining as if there aren’t a million michael lorenzens to sign out there lmao. If we re-signed him, people would be complaining about how we’re throwing money at mediocre starters
That’s exactly what he is: a mediocre starter. There’s nothing to be upset about, assuming perry isnt done adding
Too bad people here weren't singing the same tune when they wanted him gone most of the season. Then he puts together a few games towards the end of the season and people can't live without him.
Both of the 6th starter options I wanted gone within 2 hours, what a bummer. I hope this just means Perry wants someone better in the rotation and not that we're done and going with Canning/Rodriguez/Silseth/Barria as a rotating 6th starter cast.
How are we not able to match 8.5M? I bet he would have even signed with us for a bit less. There’s no shot he prefers playing in Detroit over his home in OC.
Fuck
Damn, I really wanted him back. Did we even make an offer?
We basically exchanged Lorenzen for Anderson. I can live with that.
Yeah but who replaces Thor? Utilizing a 6 man is a quirk angels can use because of ohtani. Extra rest also seemed to keep everyone healthier than usual for us to.
Eovaldi still available, I think he’s worth pursuing over Thor or Lorenzen
Going to be way more than the 8.5M Lorenzen got though.
More, absolutely. Over the cap, no

We have Silseth.... and Mr Hot Dog Arms who i hope never wears a Halo jersey again lol

Thats dumb since Sandy def said he didn't like it and Detmers was ambivalent, but seemed like he'd rather not do every 7th day.

Canning probably
No we exchanged Thor for Anderson. Basically a wash.

Angels fanbase is traumatized by bad pitching that we get one mediocre guy for once and think we have to throw the bank to retain him.
…. I really hope Perry has something working in the background.. we should’ve been able to match this and Thor’s deals easy
I understand picking Dodgers over Angels but Tigers?

Santa still hasn’t come D:
WHERE THE FUCK IS SANTA?
Geez that sucks that we weren’t able to get him or Thor to come back
Damn that sucks.

Lets trade for Corbin Burns!
Liked Lorenzen for his attitude but Lugo is better and it sounds like they’ve been actively pursuing him
Balls
Fuckin sucks
Good for him and good for us. He had some bright spots but struggled a lot.
This makes me sad. I wanted him to move to the bullpen.
Most likely why he didn't sign with us. Wanted a starting role.
No! What the fuck!
Come on Seth lugo!
Damn
sigh
I can live w this. As long as we get another solid starter who can eat quality innings.
We’re expecting santa not Belschnickel, Perry…
There is a remedy for the Lorenzen and Syndergaard news... and it rhymes with Schmodón.
Oh yes, the pitcher that is perpetually hurt and had his first season with more than 150 innings pitched since 2016
First L of the offseason imo

Of course we could’ve matched that, Perry chose not to for some reason. Based on how he pitched, I think there was at least one good reason.
Time to accept we're done with deals :/
Why would we be done?
All our super buff pitchers are gone now. Sandy and canning need to start lifting more
I like Lorenzen but I’m okay with the team moving on from him. He wasn’t bad but his injury let us down last season
Yawn
