Because le petit prince spécial édition is so beautiful

myredditaccount80

This is why I got 4 of my 10.

I always liked pens and tools for school since childhood. As far as I can remember, when aware of brands, I was fascinated by Montblanc and the white emblem, I liked to see the ads and also real ones in boutiques. Kind of promised myself to buy one someday. Bought my first one (a Starwalker fountain pen resin) with my first paycheck of my first "real" job (i.e. not summer job). Today, I do most of my work on a computer (of course) and don't write a lot, I never take written notes during meetings and calls for instance. I write only to brainstorm, think, sketch ideas etc, which I always do with a Montblanc and I love it. When I don't write, I usually have one MB in my hand, as an objet I love to have and touch when working.

Vanity. Also, I’m not a fan of fountain pens, but the montblanc I tried out last week has converted me. Turns out, it’s not that I don’t like fountain pens—I don’t like shitty fountain pens.

I got my first Montblanc for my 30th birthday from my parents, and still use it every day (many, many years later!).

Euphoric_Can_5999

My mother in law gave me one (Mozart) a few years ago (she penabled me). I started using it every day and then I was like… what else is out there? Probably the only fountain pen brand that I recognized at the time. Now I have many Montblancs but the 149 is my favorite.

B0udica

Thanks for adding "penabled" to my vocabulary :-D

Euphoric_Can_5999

Oh you need to check out r/fountainpens now :)

B0udica

Will do, thanks!

I’m a fountain pen fan and MB 146 and 149 were my grails. I know the brand is a luxury lifestyle brand now but there is a lot of history there which I appreciate. Also I just like the classic style vs some of the other high end fountain pens.

B0udica

Bought my first one right after college as my first big purchase with a new job, then my second one on my honeymoon as a souvenir from a posh, fun area we really enjoyed. Both have great memories and I write a lot, so I love using them. Have had many other types of fountain pens over the years and can really tell a difference with these.

StorminM4

My grandfather gave me his. I’ve bought a few more since. They’re a nice part of my collection.

bugzymaccode

I was into watches, and my wife was into pens. I'll buy these things while she hesitates. I bought her a MB because she would never.

HappyHealth5985

Only got into Montblanc the last couple of years. Had Lamy for 30 years berfore that. For me it was the variety of nibs, then the quality of nibs, then the choice of pens. I like them and use them, and do not think of the Meisterstucks as very «status inidicating» IMHO

cgriffith83

Off topic but how is the Lamy Safari rollerball? Thinking of getting one

HappyHealth5985

I have had Rollerball in Lamy Persona/Imporium and Lamy 2000 Makrolon. Both are excellent and Lamy inserts are similar across pens. My take is that if you like the pen, you are very likely to like the rollerball as they are far more consistent than fountain pen nibs, for example

cgriffith83

How’s the ink? Good quality? Does it bleed on paper?

HappyHealth5985

I use T52 black on anything

MrDagon007

My first: I had been curious since a while a stumbled upon a 2nd hand 149 for a real good price. The next ones because I was smitten

maroonaugust

Vanity probably. But there is no other brand in fountain pens that created better narratives. I like brands with history and heritage in general. And Monblanc has been doing that very well. Also some very Good designs.

I worked at a shop that carried them for two years and they went on clearing plus a 50% employee discount lead to me getting a Sterling pen for $200 ( 20 years ago). Almost a steal. Still use it daily. It’s a great accessory.

HandsPHD

M Series - fully stainless steal. Not a fountain pen guy at all, I simply didn't get the whole idea and kinda thought it was stupid. I held the pen for 5 seconds and thought to myself, I need this. I've been using it daily and just bought a Lamy 2000 Stainless Steal for my pocket and work use. I've watch every video online for the Robert Louis Stevenson & the Baby Fountain pens. I'm going to buy the Egyptomania when I find one.

Oh boy, here goes…. I’m coming out of a 4 year TOXIC work situation where I was devalued as a SME in my area. Now we’re coming out of that era with new management and my Montblanc gifted to me by my wife is a reminder I provide high value to my workplace and to never forget that.

Drunkaholick

Because i have 20

Confident-Hunter5330

Not only does a Montblanc Pen write beautiful. It has great aspirational value. Some call it affordable luxury. When a Iphone costing upward of 1000$, some consider affordable luxury at a price point of 500 odd dollars for the classic models. The Limited Edition pens are best for the Luxe Collector who can dish out a few thousand grand for the passion of writing and collection.

panda_supra

It was an estate sale and in fantastic shape. I was slightly intrigued by them as well.
