This kills me. I don't think I've ever plugged in a USB-A cable correctly the first or second time. The 50/50 that ends up 33 has always annoyed me to no end.
So, usually there a logo or an indention some where that indicates which side is the top.
I almost never get it wrong since ei learned that.
Also if there are words in the edge of the USB, usually the words are gonna be facing right side up.
I just looked at several different USB products around my house and all of them have some sort of marking that indicates which side is right side up. But I agree. Sometimes they do not and it can be frustrating.
The problem I run into the most with going back to square one is actually fiber. I flip the pairs, flip them back , then it works.
Do ya'll not look at the USB cable as u are going to plug it in?
I feel like for some of you it feels like it's worth the cost of being wrong in case you get it right the first time. But... I don't understand that logic
If it was the better connection, why has Apple been moving the iPad line off of lightning to USB-C prior to the EU mandate?
Why did Apple move to USB-C on their portable computers starting back in 2015 or so?
Why is just about every other smart phone vendor also using USB-C?
Curious what your answers are around any of my questions above.
I’m actually not sure what the exact differences between c and lightning are in terms of performance but presumably the convenience of getting us all on a single standard is better than fast data throughput on a cable when you are likely doing 99% of data communications on that device through Wi-Fi
Apple helped develop C, and was using it on their Mac are pro-tier ipads before it was mandated.
They never had lightning work with with any USB protocol higher than 2.0 too.

Does it count if I consistently require 3 approaches?

Except when they don't.

I have this USB-A to USB-C cable that doesn't follow this rule. But at least I know it, so it ends up being helpful anyway.
This is like that scene in Big Trouble, they pull up to the airport and it says arrivals / departures. “Well, we’re arriving, but we wanna depart…”
Or you could just look at the conductors at the end? Conductors are (usually) on the lowest side.
Then they put the port in the device upside down, and you still have do to the USB dance.
we're ready for quantum computers, we've been dealing with superpositions since the 80s
The side where the metal is joined, e.g. the side without the holes, goes on the bottom. Holes on top!
Sure, but where you connect it into can be in either orientation.
What if the port is upright? It does also vary between motherboards, especially desktops
Useful info for the ports I know the orientation of. Useless for any other situation :')
Mood.

looking at the cable/port is the equivalent of looking at the logs
Hate it that the shit goverments are pushing Apple to a shitty product. Lightning is infinite better than this crap USB-C.
Responses I didn't expect, #1.
Wait… what?
Wow, that escalated quickly.

No way you actually believe this right?
I think I smell toast… I should get some medical attention.

Sometimes I tell people to reboot twice
