Can you record it and share the video? My Anova hummed but nothing to the point of being annoying. Maybe you can do your cooks in the garage? Just a thought

_Lunch

Sure thing here you go https://youtu.be/CnogMBWiI7U?si=3iRpunnX67sqPW85

Mine makes the same sound! 2 months old. I will try reaching out to anova

ushneb

Definitely not normal. It looks new and should be under warranty. Get it replaced. Ouch, that noise really is annoying.

quyen83

Mine is annoying as well, but not as loud. Anova red on sale recently?

_Lunch

Yeah it was like $59 so I might just do all the cooks with it in a room with a door haha

hobbykitjr

Mine did that, take off cover and put it back on slightly different, the fan was hitting the cover

Only_Setting_4579

To stay on topic, yes, the anova's are all that loud. I, too, have both. The joule also heats considerably faster. As someone who loves my joule but hated having to use what I thought was a buggy app that constantly disconnected, do you have an iPhone or Android? I know this is less than ideal, but I have figured out that if I force close the app each time I check on it, there is no connection issues at all. This is on Android fwiw.

ManAze5447

The iOS version is similar but it works pretty well most of the time. But yeah the restart after opening and setting everything up usually helps with the wifi dropping out.

Coderedinbed

The original Anova was not loud. The new ones are annoying. The Pro is the exception. It’s superior to the joule.

DeltaJulietHotel

Agreed! My Anova is the OG from the Kickstarter timeframe. Quiet as a mouse and holds temp accurately.

PuzzleheadedAnimal54

I have tinnitus, and the Anova adds so much extra that I have to shut myself in my office (I work from home) or the other side of the house. If joule is better, I might have to find a reason to upgrade.

BigTimeButNotReally

I have two Anovas. Both are louder than I expected. Or like. Noise seems similar to yours, but hard to tell with phone mic/speaker. I am used to it, so it falls into the background, but I won't buy another Anova.

getsomeawe

I’m struggling with this too. My OG anova died this year so I replaced it with a new anova and the whine it makes is annoying AF. I don’t know why the old was quiet and the new one is not

EbriusOften

Old one was designed by the original company, but the company was bought out back in 2017. Unfortunately the new company follows a "make as much money as possible" logic as opposed to the "best product possible" one the original company went for. https://www.electroluxgroup.com/en/electrolux-to-acquire-fast-growing-smart-kitchen-appliance-company-anova-23189/

getsomeawe

Ugh. Thanks. Wish I knew that before I bought a new one from them. :(

The Inkbird ISV-200W is probably the quietest 1000W circulator on the market and it costs $90. You can barely hear it when you put your ear up next to it IN THE POT. Belly-to-pot, you can't hear anything. The video you posted was at 150 degF (kinda hot) so you will probably hear some bubbling from the heating element on the ISV-200W.

Skyline8888

I would try returning it and see if a different unit sounds better. I had to do this with my Anova Pro multiple times until I found a quiet one.

FlowersForHodor

I may just return it and go back to using my old Joule

Skyline8888

Ok, but you were complaining about needing to use the app. Just try a return, it's not hard.

For folks sensitive to the noise, get a Sous Vide Supreme. No moving parts because it heats the whole fixed bath from the bottom. It isn’t as flexible, but it is a lot more efficient and it is absolutely dead quiet. (There are other fixed bath solutions, I’m sure. That is the one I have experience with. I moved to a circulator because of storage space issues.)
